My job used to entail driving around the Auckland CBD and Ponsonby all night, between 5pm and 5am. I would sometimes get breathalysed more than 4 times in a night, and would encounter up to three different checkpoints. Areas seem to go through periods of being hit hard, I expect we will see more breathalyser stops in town as summer draws near and the nightlife starts to pick up.

Set one up a two car checkpoint in a cull-de-sac once, outside a burglars house. No traffic, but it sure pissed him off.

Drink drivers come in all shapes, sizes, ages, etc. They also drive at any given time of the day or night. At least they are out and about trying to ping them.

Try farting in lower case. It's quieter for those library visits for example.

That's a good effort. It sort of defeats the purpose having the checkpoints in the same place time and time again. At least I know the exact time and place the checkpoints are getting setup in advance, so I know to avoid them with the bike rego on hold and all.

I completely agree, I am just curious as to why I've never been checked at times when I would consider there would be more drink drivers to be caught? I fully acknowledge it can happen anytime, I'm didn't mind getting checked at all, It's just always confused me why I only get stopped at that time of the day.

I think the answer may be the fact that you have recently changed your line or work, as you are now classified as the stay-at-home-dad you fall into the category of "housewife" and we all know that some "housewives" have been known to partake in a wine or two over lunch, those coffee groups don't always drink coffee...you have much to learn me thinks.

I mean no offence to you or any non-drinking housewives.

Now that is pretty friggin sad.
One would think if you got pinged in the morning you would take note of that for the drive home in the evening. What a wolly!

Well not for breath testing....we can test as many as we want.

And no paperwork unless we get a 'failer'.

So the bosses wouldn't have clue how many have been tested unless the cops involved actually write the numbers down.

(Just in case you WERE'NT trolling and other people really thought breath tests counted as a contact...of course dragging somebody back to the station and processing them for EBA is another matter)
