    I'm sure any discussion on WSBK and Hampton Downs revolves around the 'proposed' final facilities, track configuration and safety. All of which would meet the criteria set out by the governing body.

    I’m also sure the cost of putting on a round of WSBK’s is so great it would require some form of government support and I’m talking millions $ here. The motorcycle industry here in NZ isn’t the cash cow some think it is and could not afford to put it on even if they combined all their resources.

    ‘If’ it did happen I think gate entry would be massive, motorcycle enthusiasts from around the country would make the effort to attend and there is an obvious slot in the calendar for it right after PI.

    I hope one day it makes it over but HD needs to be finished, the financial climate better and the government needs to realise there more sport out there than just rugby and sailing.

    Just to put some figures out there to contemplate;

    The circuit has to buy 'hosting rights' three or five year hosting rights.
    Kyalami SA paid 22 million NZ dollars for that right for three years.

    Bear in mind that is just for the right to 'host' the event, add to that all the associated costs of actually putting the event on!!

    So if my Maffs are right...
    Lets take the growd at Paero (about 15000 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paeroa_Street_Circuit) and add a few to make it 20000
    $22 000 000 / 3(years) = $7.3mil per weekend
    $7333333 / 20000 = $366.67 per person

    Time to start saving.

    WSBK is only a tier 2 which means it's in the same league as Ozzy V8's. Meaning the same infrastructure needed as has been provided for god know's how many years the v8's have come here.

    Pukky got away with some shocking short cuts. HD is putting in a little more effort. The requirements aren't anything special like tier 1/Formula 1.

    I love the v8's but don't go to watch them live any more but you'll be damn sure to see me rock a WSBK event!

    HD will be alternated with Oz for the bikes but it has also been proposed that they add more rounds to the series. I see the former happening in 2013 though.
