Other news is that massive UFO display over major cities on October 13.

The planet will survive and so will those that roll with it.

1. Is any government legislating quality?

2. Notice how quantity is getting smaller in items you buy to keep the price from going up? You can only reduce your use so much, before you end up buying 2 of whatever the item is - adding to landfill and resources required to produce the extra packaging.

3. Making dumping fees / garbage removal horrendous. Introduce fees on recyclable processing as well.

The above 3 points will defer the inevitable - but not eliminate it. Only getting rid of people or genetically engineering the greed gene out of us is the ultimate solution (as well as capping the population).

Put it this way - if we don't curb ourselves, mother nature will use her gavel. Sadly for humans (and every other species we take with us) her decision will be final and irreversible.

I take solace in being in the right pace at the right time...its not everyday you get to witness the downfall of a civilisation. The last one was the Romans wasnt it?
According to Dr Tim Flannery we're really lucky to have made it this far due to the penny pinchers of the Refridgeration industries.....way back in the 50's they made the decision to standardise the refrigerent used in refridgeration, opting to use the cheaper Chlorine instead of the more betterer Bromine. If we'd stuck with Bromine which is a bazzillion times more ozone deadly than Chlorine by the time we'd realised we had a problem (Huston) we wouldnt have been able to stop the avalanche of Atmospheric degradation & we'd all be deep fried by now

Now that decision ties in nicely with what cave weta is saying, because if that'd happened it wouldve upset the prophecies & people wouldve absolutely freaked, whereas if it happens according to schedule then people will quietly accept it & dream of heaven. Good, then they can fuck off & we just got to wait 400 odd years until "Heaven on Earth"(tm)
Tis a bit of a shame that weve come so far & let our greed for filthy luchre (money) stop us from doing anything about it
