How do we start again?

How does 1 person make a difference? The only way I can see us changing things is at a political level. To make that change is going to take guts.

The only thing politicians listen to is votes (not voters). I garantee that if at the next election there was a huge swing to the Greens then the major parties would sit up and take note and we might see some more progressive gutsy policy and action come out of the major parties.

The idea of living with the Greens in power is a little worrying but if that's what it takes to get things happening on a wider level then I think its worth it.

Aye, it does have to be at the political level... the alternative being unthinkable ... revolution.

If the Green Party could be slightly more realistic towards environmental issues (i'm sure they are, but that's not how it comes across) and accept the pace of the political process and the Maori Party, yes the Maori Party, could be a little more open to the idea of a shared New Zealand (i'm sure they are, but that's not how it comes across) and the pair could get together and agree on policies that make sense for New Zealanders as a single people (i bet there are shitloads of policies that need brought into the 21st century), then maybe, just maybe you could swing a few more 10's of thousands of votes. Think of all of those people who don't vote because there's noone to vote for, same shit, different colour .
