    Justice? Or farce?

Peter Hjorring, the ex-MOT, ex-Police, licence tester has been convicted and sentenced to 280 hours community service for putting an estimated 100 untested drivers on our roads.
A lesser sentence than if he'd been convicted of dangerous driving.
If there's any natural justice, the Judge will be a victim of one of Hjorrings 'clients'.

I agree Lou really sending out a message eh? - not!!

How do we know that some of his 'clients' have NOT already been involved in a serious crash?

I like your comment re 'justice' but in this world it'll never happen (or if it did we'd never know)

I kind of gaped at that article yesterday and haven't been able to formulate a clear understanding of the thought processes that arrived at that sentence. How many drivers with "fake" licenses have caused fatal accidents? Surely if there was even ONE this guy is an accessory to manslaughter, though of course given the judiciary and general public's insistence that all motor vehicle incidents are "accidents" no one is to blame anyway.

Ahhh! I get it now. Unlicensed drivers have "accidents" so there is no blame or personal responsibility to apply in this case.

Oh yeah - driving is a "right" too so that also explains it.

I couldn’t agree more. What kind of message does this send out to people? This lame sentence IMO tells people its ok to put untrained, inexperienced in charge of a potential lethal machine.

It seems a bit light, alright.

But don't confuse "due legal process" with justice. The legal system isn't set up to be just, due to follow the letter of the law, and sometimes human nature (mistakes, misplaced sense of charity, whatever) mean that sentences are not just. [/PREACH MODE OFF]
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

    AGreed.

This idiot was in a position of priviledge, abused it, and has emperill... emperill... emp...

    PUT US ALL AT RISK.

His background suggest he knows considerably better, knew all the rules he was breaking and has probably been to a number of car wrecks that exemplify (got that one) the carnage he's caused.

Idiot! Hang him out to dry!

He 'estimated' the number of duds at between 10-30, oh hang on, no, it was only 8. That won't cause too much carnage, will it?
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

I think I can best answer that with an example - let find someone... hmmm... my friend's son. He doesn't know how to drive... got a good idea but I wouldn't trust him to make it around a full carpark without collecting some paint.

OK - he pays his $400 and gets his licence and he's OFF. I woulnd NOT want to be anywhere near him... the only reason he would miss people is because they'de avoid him (if you see my point).

Put 7 more of the buggers out there and it's all on.

The essence is in the "Why?". WHY would they buy their licences, it's cheaper (albeit slower) to do it proper!

hmmm... I don't want them on the road - at all. I say charge them for being involved too.

Oooops forgot to add the 'TongueInCheek' smiley. I agree that more than none is too many & the guy did not get what he deserved. I hope the recipients all get tracked down & stopped from driving too.

I totally agree as well, it's a gross breach of trust and responsibility in the position he held! He should be jailed!

It's notable that the Judge was Philip Recordon, he has a record as the master of the wet bus ticket slapping.

You would have thought that the judge would have ordered him to supply the names of all the recipients of the fake licenses.

    ...then deport the f**kers

No worries - it's late in the week - my brain hurts - I probably wouldn't have seen it anyways...
