Need help on Cbr250 Rear Tyre

    Good Morning all

My back tyre only got grip on the sides, the middle which is just about slicks, now i need to get a new rear, at the moment i am using Arrowmax's which came with the bike when i got it, i was just going to buy another one they were going to cost $485 + GST! holy crap so dear,

i don't want to spend more than 250-300$ inc gst or less (all i can afford) but i want a good brand to corner on aswell, i was looking at BT45's as they are cheap, but i did a bit of research on them and was told the tyres not hold well for corners

so basiclly i want a good tyre for cornering and holds good in wet,

i don't know any other good brands, please help =) =)

    thank you so much!

My bike isnt a cbr but I went and bought myself a pirelli sports demon. i have the same rear size tyre as you i believe. it cost me $180 and the fitting is another $25. not too bad i reckon.

see what you think of sport demons from google searches etc

i was just quoted $385 for a set of sports demons incl fitting. not too bad i reckon

edit: they might not last as long as the other two tyres you mentioned (well i dont think they will but im not tyre expert, i just want the fuckers to stay stuck to the tarmac come winter)

Hi Gibbo89, thank you for taking your time to reply, i am really greatful - i'll have a look at the pirelli and see what they say, my rear at the moment i can still ride on it, which i am at the moment, but i don't really want to danger myself and others on the road , so thank you for your input i'll do some research now

    thanks again

    I don't know who told you BT45s don't grip well...that's crap.
BT45s are similar to Sport Demons for grip, but may last longer in the centre, because they are dual compound.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

    I possibly wouldn't use them on a heavy bike...but on the 250s...brilliant.

Welcome. Don't discount Sport Demons on my say so. They are great too. Either tyre will look after you very well. Go with whichever one you get for less $.

i thought that if you had a dual compound in the centre of the tyre then it is more likely to slip in the wet? yes the tyres will last longer, but not by much.

well slip more until they warm up nice and good

That doesn't seem to be the case. Any tyre can slip in the wet. Just ride accordingly.

    Hi phiretrojan,
Hi mate i have a brand new Bridgestone Battlax BTOO3 RS 140/70x17 you can have for $200.
These are the replacement for the old BTO9O which were a great tyre for small capacity bikes.
PM me if you are interested.

There's almost no way you could get a rear tyre for over 500 for a 250. They must have been quoting a set.
