Kobo e-reader. Anyone who has one care to offer an opinion

Title says it all really. I'm just thinking of getting Mrs Oakie one for Xmas.

I've noticed that there are a lot of slightly used ones on Trade Me so I guess some people bought them and did not like. What is your experience?

Pretty average response time, and not that intuitive. Go for a Sony eReader or a Kindle. Kindle will possibly have easier access to purchase books through Amazon. Sony does have a store thought I don't believe it's as large as Amazon's. If you want to find the Sony cheaper than it sells in NZ it will only save you about $50 and recommend www.bhphoto.com for this.

The Sony e-readers come up now and then on www.firstin.co.nz. They'll be back. (After a while you see the same stock cycling 'round).

Sorry - I don't remember if they are new or refurbushed.

(Can't vouch for them actually being a good deal, either.)

Borrow one. Drop it in the bath. If it still works it's definitely a book replacement.

I was thinking of buying the kobo e-reader. Mainly because books are so easy to get for free online and I already have about a 1000 downloaded.

With the Kobo you can read a normal txt file, as far as I know with the Kindles you cant (this may have changed since I last looked).

The only reason I didnt buy an ereader was the price (You dont pay me enough Oakie lol).

Currently Im using my cell phone as an e-reader and while its not ideal, it does the job ok.

    Looked at the Kobe Ereader.
    Borrowed one
    Didn't like it

Was put onto the Kindle by a friend.
    Borrowed one
Liked it. Ordered one from Amazon. Arrived 9 days later. Everything they say it is, it is.

Ha ha. Reading Tolstoys 'War and Peace' by cell phone. Oh, and if you want to earn a little more Mr Spuds you could clean my bike for me next time you're in.
