the mrs car was broken into and the valentine radar stolen off the dash. apparently there is an epidemic on radar pinching at the moment. advice from the insurance company was take it out of the car or hide it.
thieves suck!

Having just fitted a new detector mount on the bike, the detector is now held on with velcro so I must remember to stick it in my pocket! I never swap it over into the car as my wife hates it beeping away. So what happened at Xmas was I didn't see a camera van up the Thames coast and got nailed for $80![]()
Cheers for the reminder.![]()
Geoff
Yeah I always take it with me, in car or on bike. Too risky to leave it in plain site, easiest $200 the theif will ever make.
radars have been on the hit list for ages dude.
just a simple thing to smash and grab.

pays to keep em outa sight ie, take em down when u not in the car.

Never taken mine out of my car - if they pinch it - so be it
Radar detectors are the most commonly stolen item from cars. They are easy to pinch when sitting on your dash and there is always and active black market for them.
Taking it off the dash is often not enough.
Clues like the cradle still being attached to the dash or even the little circular smudges that the suckers leave on the window could be enough of a sign to a thief that there could be a detector in the glove box!
However the alarm stickers on my windows put people off ripping it off me. Well that and my other four legged alarm/tear ur arms off security system.Originally Posted by 750Y

i realy had no idea about how commonly they are targeted.
The guy knew what he was doing cos he smashed the window but didn't try to open the door even though he leaned in & rummaged around the rear foot wells, he musta known about the factory holden alarms which only go off if You try to open the doors from the inside. also the wanker put sprinkled glass onto the electric window switch on the console so when i lifted it up to clean the glass out some slipped under & held the motor on. I had to pull over and fish around for a pen to dig it out. 8-(

I bid on one a few weeks ago and won the auction but the dude never responded to my emails to give me the name on his a/c so I have not deposited the funds. I've told TradeMe by email and they just say "sorry" and that I can have my auction win fee refunded.Originally Posted by spudchucka
Surely if the dude was legit there would be a reply. So who are all these traders of Valentine 1s? How come so many? And why do they say "serial number will be forwarded on completion of the auction"?
Looks like current retail for pop2 model is $799 or more but there's one dude offering for $700. Can they be trusted?![]()

Reality is an illusion encouraged by consensus.
If hes getting them from overseas, easily offer them for that. Gear is cheap over the waves....
