The importance of the emerging Indian economy has been demonstrated once again, as BMW has announced it will sell motorcycles, via three dealerships.

The German manufacturer intends to sell R and K series models, as well as the S1000RR. No prices have been revealed.

Fellow premium-brand Harley-Davidson has already commenced trading in India..

Meanwhile, Honda has announced plans to introduce an all-new 250cc sports-based bike into the Indian market. The new CBR250R features a 249cc single cylinder 4-valve DOHC motor with PGM-Fi that produces 26PS of power at 8,500rpm and 22.89Nm of torque at 7,000rpm. ABS and non-ABS versions will be available.

The CBR250R will also be released into international markets including Europe in the spring of 2011.
