Just thought I'd throw the dates up in case anyone hadn't worked it out.

o yea only two weeks away now!
So whats the story with the north island series on Saturday. Can I come along and get in everyones way as per usual or is the north island series for the more serious bikes?
Feel free to come along and get in everyones way, there are plenty of others who will have only done one round and A and B grades have been run at the three rounds so far.
Part of me says you are right.
Part of me says it's the NI series not the prepared to travel series so don't crash during qualifying.
Yeah, quailifying should only apply to those who turn up to round one, then after that its where you stand on points from there on for the remaining rounds. Thats the fair way to do it. Should not turn up for round 3 having not done 1 & 2 and then qualify fastest and be on pole.
Faster, faster, faster, until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death. (HT)
I suspect that things will be done the same as previous rounds with grid set by current points. Could be full grids with it being the day before the two hour and all. Had 30 A grade and 18 B grade show up last week for 18 grid positions in each class. Having said that some of the faster Auckland riders may well stay home since the two hour clashes with an AMCC club round at Puke on Sunday.
As I have not competed in any rounds so far and dont have a handle on the way your current grids are set I might be about to make an arse of myself ...
The system used currently at Mt Wellington is fair for all parties and could be considered for this series also. We have two qualifying races to determine the points race grid positions. The qualifying race grid positions are based on current series points. Each riders total points acquired from the qualifying races determines their grid position for the actual points race.
This system gives priority to previous results but is also fair to everyone who turns up wanting to race
To the best of my knowledge the names are drawn out of a hat (Henk can probably confirm actual method). i.e. the first 16 names drawn are qualifying race 1 heat 1 the remainder are qualifying race 1 heat 2. All the names go back in the hat and are redrawn for qualifying race 2 heats.
Having two sets of seperately drawn qualifying races is the key, the combined results are pretty accurate as to correct setup for the race grid.
Of course timed qualifying would be the way to go but our method is a lot simpler and time effective plus we get extra race time - a win win for everyone involved!
As far as I know, and I could be wrong, the heats are seeded from curent series points. The first two heats are populated by taking the top and bottom half of the sign on sheet and the second two heats are split odds and evens in the order of signing on.
Don't really care how it's done but as Detlev said it would kind of suck to not make the points races at the home round having dragged myself to Taumarunui, Wellington and Roys Hill for the rest of the series.
For the next season it might pay to add a C group to the fray as rider entries seem to grow or one might have to run 2 A and or 2 B groups .After one heat take the top finishers from each respective group and put them together for the next race.
Shall we see how next weekend pans out before we start planning next years series.
At the end of the day it is the NI series so it should be about who is fastest. Don't qualify at a round where there are lots of fast buggers and you probably shouldnt score any points for the round. Consistency should still count, but not as much as speed on the day.
Quite right... chill everyone. IF we ever have timing gear it will be based on qualifiying for grid positions... i think thats how they do it at other race meetings????? or maybe at MotoGP they see who travelled the furthest and give them a head start... Or we could issue riders with swords and knives and do a last man standing gets pole position and choice of other riders body parts to take home. We look forward to seeing you all there, if there's room on the track for everyone!!
