The funny thing is that Key says that if the travel perks are abolished then there should be no increase in salary by way of compensation.
Because any claim that they should be compensated should only apply to those who were around when the rort/perk was brought in - like early '70's. Since then, MP's wages have increased at a far higher rate than the general populace, as have their allowances.
There is no place for ANY MP's to be able to claim subsidized travel for life! Particularly after they leave parliament!
