    FXR150 info

I was wondering if anyone had any info on the air filter and mixture part of the bike on the FXR150.
From reading some cycle manuals and looking at fouled plugs it seems it's a choke, mixture or air filter problem.

    Thanks for your time

Ok, I put a new plug in her today. She can turn on (until that plus is fouled and chucked on the pile), but as soon as you try to put on the gas she'll cut out. Any idea's?

And I looked in the carb (or at least i think it was) and it looked sweet, no water or what not

    Cheers

Did mine last weekend. On appearances it looks like you can't, but you can. Hold firmly the foam in one hand and with your other hand, apply a gentle but steady pulling force on the white plastic frame. It'll slide out just like that.
90% of the time spent writing this post was spent thinking of something witty to say. It may have been wasted.

    Hey Indy

    just a thought...

Had a similar problem with my Fixxer, and after much tinkering , found the issue was the carb diaphragm - a known weakness of FXR's. When I took it out I was looking for holes or splits, of which there were none, but the diaphragm was slightly mis-shapen, and wasnt sealing properly.
Therefore reduced vacuum, reduced airflow and bike running like shit.
It would idle only on full choke (although hard to get started), but was reluctant to rev. On the road, it would get up to 50kph and then go no faster no matter what gear or thottle position...

New diaphragm ($60 for a 5cm diameter piece of rubber ) and bike running fine.

note: to get at the diaphram (top of carb), its best to take the carb off the bike - once you have the tank off and remove the airbox, piece of cake.

    thats the one

should be a nice symmetrical shape which sits in the metal groove around the top of the carb body - if it doesnt, (mine had folds and creases on one side) will result in poor vacuum. Must also have no spilts or holes... the diaphragm can just be pulled off the slide if it needs to be replaced... oh and good luck getting that spring back positioned correctly .
