Bulbs are easy to find, most bike shops have packets on the shelves, I've recently managed to completely re-bulb a 6v bike.

As far as leds go the blinkers or the blinker unit is the only thing that needs changing if you go all led.

Thats all i really wanted to change, i dont mind the blinkers at the front but perhaps the ones at the back..

Heres another great question, What type of bulbs are even in my instrument panel? i know they are 12v but im pretty sure they aren't "wedge" nor Bayonet.

    I think the MC19 uses a BA9S 12v 3W for the instrument bulbs.
Is there any way of changing the bulb colour?

All I did was take one out to get a match.
You can change all your lights to led if you can find the bulbs and colours you need, barring your headlight.
Some flasher units don't like LED bulbs, the amperage is to low so you either fit a load resister across each side or change the flasher unit over. Supercheap have led flasher units and some common bulbs.
Dick smith have different super-bright led's with wire tails and the little resistor already to go onto a 12v circuit. My old bike had instrument bulbs up a tube behind the face so it would have been easy to fit a super bright led and bodge a connection.

If the bulb looks like this:

then it is 10mm diameter so something like these are what you want:

Of course you can use smaller 5mm or 3mm LEDs too.

Plus a resistor in series with one leg of the LED. Work out the resistor with 14/LED_current where LED current as specified for the device you choose is likely to be 0.02 or so amps. The resistor value will be around 300 to 900 ohms, depending on the LED you choose.

I think the biggest issue you will have is getting the light looking right if you go to LEDs - they are quite directional compared to an incandescent bulb. Unless there is a diffuser or they light the panel from the side or similar, you will probably get a point of light where each LED is rather than a spread backlight effect like you do with the bulbs.

    Thanks mate,
Yeah i had some fun yesterday messing with it, I think i LED would be too much trouble. from all the research ive done ive found that only a green or blue LED would be suffice and even then they aren't that bright or clear.. might just have to get a new bulb :P

Err - you can get LEDs in most colours that will blind you they are that bright..... but you still have the problem of diffusing the light.
