Sir Stirling Moss forces review of C-Charge rules

Transport for London are reviewing their policy on three-wheeler scooters, following an ongoing battle with Sir Sterling Moss.

Mayfair-based Sir Stirling has been fined more than £300 in six months for non-payment of fines for riding his 49cc three-wheeler scooter. He assumed it would be classed as a motorcycle and therefore exempt from the charge. He said “It's got three wheels and so, under the Road Traffic Act, it is a motorcycle, therefore not subject to the charge. The bike is only 22 inches wide. There are motorbikes twice as wide as mine and they don't have to pay."

Following a meeting between Moss and Mayor Ken Livingstone, Transport for London is reviewing his case and the whole issue of three-wheel vehicles.

A TfL spokesman said: "We have had a few representations about these three-wheel scooters and it is something we are looking at and intending to change."

Last time I read the law on that in london it was a motorcycle of the distance between both rear wheels was less than a certain distance. Otherwise (and most trikes) are classed as a car.

Think the same law applies here too.
