    Did the Hyo CDI mod, battery might be flat now?

    Hi all,
    I did the CDI mod (pulled the green/blue wire) on my 2008 GT250R on Saturday. Took the bike for a spin on Saturday afternoon and the flat spot was gone! Bike pulled nicely in 3rd through traffic and at intersections! Stoked!
    Rode the bike Saturday night to go watch the Kiwis lose to Oz at Eden Park . Bike felt good and no issues. Come Monday morning, bike cranks over but really slowly, it was on the verge of starting but didn't fire. Sounded like the battery did not have enough juice to crank it over at the normal speed. I didn’t have time to play with it this morning so I busted out the 50cc scooter to get to work!!
    So my question is, has anyone heard of this happening to anyone doing the CDI mod? It could be just bad timing and the battery has decided to die but I thought I would ask.
    I’ll be putting the battery on the charger overnight and will get the multimeter to check if it is holding a charge and its output during cranking. Oh, and I will put the green/blue wire back in and see if that makes it all better too.

    Are you sure you didnt do something like flick the key to 'park'?

    Got home from work and thought i would try and start the bike.....and whatdaya know the hyo fired into life first try!? So that is good in that respect, i put the multimeter on the battery (under load as well) and the voltage is healthy. So it was either a random electrical gremlin, or i'm just an idiot and bumped the kill switch while wheeling the bike out???

    I thought about this a little more and played with the kill switch, with the kill switch on the bike would not have turned over at all. So something wacked happened and i am hoping it does not happening again, especially in the middle of some coro-therapy!

    maybe the battery or possible loose terminals did not like being cold.

    I had the same problem on my old hyo, apparently some problem with the thingy that charges the battery while you ride (Altenator??Pfff I dunno).

    It comes and goes, but it never gave me any problems

    might be side-stand switch causing grief. Those things are notorious for causing strange intermittant power issues. You can disable it easily enough, just can't remember if you do so by just disconnecting the switch, or by bridging it after disconnection.

    I may have to agree with Hiflyer here, as the bike was turning over really slowly, like it had flat battery. It did it again but had enough juice to fire. Theres a brief pause between turning the key and the engine cranking. I have ripped out the battery tender connection from the battery on the scooter and hooked them up to the Hyo to top up the battery in the evenings. Seems to have done the trick....so far.

    I'd be checking for loose terminals on your battery...
    1990 CBR250RR - fully rebuilt and awesome!

    Terminals were tight, checked them after reading here on KB. I installed the battery tender connections as well so terminals are good.
