    Road 2CT splitting?

    Has anyone seen this??
The line around the circumference on one side of the tyre seems to be the split between the hard centre and the softer outer of the double compound tyre.

Cycletreads reckon just monitor it and all will be good. About 6000 km,s on it and only just noticed it.

IMO nothing to worry about. I've seen similar on my tyres before.

I'm on my second set, and both lots have showed this off-centre line.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

    Thumbs up

All good. It shows up on the powers as well.
Tis a Yamahahahaha G. Just thrash it like you stole it. Gixxer 4 ever
It really did look very unloved. Specially as it was next to the R1 that the whole crowd wanted to look at. Gixxer 4 ever

All good. Seen the same, on mine.

Normal - ditto on mine. Weird it is always slightly offset and wonky.

I think the Michelins have the join for the two parts of the mould for the tyre running around the circumference of the tyre, and that's where the "split" is.
It's just a small area where the compound reacted on the surface because of the temp difference at the mould join, and i'm pretty sure you will find that it's very shallow, and won't get any deeper.

If it's what I think it is, then it's simply a cosmetic issue - nothing more.

Other brands split the mould at various places around the hemisphere of the mould, and can get similar marks going across the width of the tyre instead.

Conti, Pirelli, and Bridgestone can all do this, and it's the same - a cosmetic issue only, no safety concern.

Same here. Both front and rear on my PR2s.
When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.
