The Organisers take no responsibilty for stulifying racing and lack of crowds/sponsors due to the spectacle of riders with trainer wheels, wrapped in cotton wool and parading in single file not exceeding walking pace.

In fact the candy floss barriers are so high you can only see the 'competitors' (a hangover from the bad old days - there are no winners or losers) from the bar where lukewarm low alcohol beer is availible in damp cardboard cups.

Still you can participate in a closely guided tour of the pits where you can smell the ozone (fuel too dangerous) and hear the thrilling hum of battery chargers.

The output from these 100% recycled material steeds is impressive from their totally child safe 3v systems.

Please remember that the public transport from the track departs at 2:15 so everybody is tucked up in bed by 5 o'clock

So no. No chicane. What a tool (or troll) for posting this thread
Haha, from the guy cowering behind his keyboard that's beyond ironic.

OK, lets accept for the moment that we're willing to step back to the 60's (33 deaths in GP's between 1980 and 1950) rather than stay in the 21st century (13 deaths between 1980 and 2010).

The problem is as long as the hump stays as it is we'll never see a world class bike event at HD. Never.

You've gotta use your imagination and take things a step or two further than our small club and National events where the disparity in talent instantly spreads out the field. Imagine 24 World Supers or even worse 40 of those crazy Moto2 guys ducking and diving over the hill en masse.....it's just not gonna happen.

With more power, better tyres, lighter weight, higher skill levels the WSB and MotoGP guys are gonna be substantially quicker than our relatively low spec Supers and are gonna absolutely launch off that hump.

You're dreamin' if you think any international organisation is gonna say "harden up princess" to the riders and agree to that.

If a suggestion of a way to make something a little safer upsets you so much I suggest you go back to your chainsaw juggling or whatever you get your jollies from. And if you knew me you'd know I'm far from a safety freak, I just don't like watching my friends/associates die.

If you guys don't mind, I'd like to keep the votes from those that ride/plan to ride there. Thanks.
Nice reply however 'Assumptions are the mother of all fuck ups.'

FYI I get to spend a considerable amount of time at all of New Zealands race tracks

You're dreaming if you think you will anyway

Morcs idea, and I think a good one. If it gets enough backing we can go to the track guys with the idea.
Or let's hear some other ideas, though we know moving the wall is probably not an option.

Hands up all those who get that sinking feeling when they see a racer crash and not get up.
Now, hands up all those who want to ensure this happens.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

would turning the riders directly at a wall, then directly at another wall be worse?

in real terms, moving the pit straight wall is not going to happen, there is to much to move there,

removing the hump may happen in the future, but at a quick guess it would be around $100,000 to do it minimum, to rip on the tar seal, reprofile and relay it, i do not think it will happen soon, as it would also take the track out of action for a couple of weeks and loose revenue for Hampton, and the strong rumour around that Hampton Downs is not in a very strong financial postion

it comes down to personal choice in the end, if you do not think it is safe do not ride there, if no one turns up to motorcycle days they will stop running them, and the cars will get more weekends there, the same goes with Pukekohe

    Leave the hump

There are other ways people will crash there even if it is smoothed out.

Move the wall is the best solution. Not financially viable for now, agreed, but so long as it is acknowledged as a future must do. Once debt is paid off the place will be a cash cow, then improvements can be made.

How many good tracks have been fucked up by sticking a stupid zig zag in the best bits....

I guess this is why there is f/a decent jumps at MX tracks anymore. If the bump is a problem for you just slow down.

If you hit the upramp on the center point jump at taupo mx track tapped then your gonna die, but its your choice how fast you hit it.

The wall is the bad part and the lines are a bit hairy in the wet. Simple solve is some air fence or whatever like they do at puke.

If I owned the track id say if you dont like it dont come, if majority of bike riders dont like it then your not welcome.

A chicane there will wreck the track
