Seems like a bit of an insult to me wonder if the pollies have cut their pension yet? probably not... Would this affect NZ, being part of the crown and all?

I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!
Curious they haven't cut the foreign aid bill.
It's only when you take the piss out of a partially shaved wookie with an overactive 'me' gene and stapled on piss flaps that it becomes a problem.
I'm pretty sure there are a lot of things that need to and could be cut before you start picking on those who have defended the freedom of their country and their retirement fund... Unfortunately it's probably too much like hard work and they're an easy target. Wonder if the soldiers will go on strike?

But it's also a convenient phrase the NZ Government like to use when they bring in anything that might not be universally liked. Makes it sound like you're dealing with that fading kingdom you mention, when really it's NZer's all along - unless there's still some legal reason for the term being used.
Well if you read the article you will see that what is happening is that they are changing the index-linking on all public sector pensions from the RPI to CPI (both measures of inflation but the CPI doesn't included housing costs and is usually a lower number) so that would include the pollies and the civil service.
It just looks to me like the opposition and media have picked one group with a lot of public support to produce an anti-government story.
It doesn't say all. It just says "Widows and injured personnel will be affected by reforms to public sector pensions". That, to me, does not mean all, but I see how it could to others.
Whichever way you want to slice it, it's still a cut in their pension value. Which is a fuckin dispicable way to treat your "protectors"...
