I agree, I think you should only be allowed to race one class per bike

The origins of the class are discussed in the biography of John Britten. As I recall, the classic racing people were not happy with what he and others were running and suggested that they start a new class. So they did.

Bad for me not knowing the history, but good in the aspect that I am my own person.

The guys down here wouldn't give a shit because apart from the street races they don't really do "mainstream"events

It's an alternative just like the classic clubs with their events

The "Sound of Thunder" would be one of the best events this country has, way better than any National round, heaps of racing and a chance to see a lot of bikes out there you normally wouldn't

In the North Island compared to down here the BEARs are pretty much a non event

This debate could be quite similar to Maori Ab's vs the National AB's

Well Dan rides a mountain bike with no front wheel. I can't recall what they were advertising (obviously works well eh) but it disappointed me that they can't use a top NZ mountainbiker. So over rugby.

Ego's have to race time too.

Most ride in Bears so they get their much need stroke time.

All the ones whom race in the other classes - bears is like training laps for them.

But the ones whom only race BEARS! Its pretty obvious guys.....
Some people maybe. But when I rode a 'BEARS' bike, it was with Bruce Ainstey, Simon Turner, Brett Richmond etc etc. Nothing to do with ego's...just huge (compared to 'mainstream' racing anyway) prize money!

That ad so fucks me off.
We have literally 1,000's of skilled competing mountain bikers in NZ - and they stick pretty boy dan's face all over that ad. He can't even play rugby properly.
Would like to know who was his stunt double......and how good he is at rugby.
Mabey he could replace dan.....so dan could go back to his true calling.

Yeah but those guys didn't just race BEARS...... so if BEARS dissapeared....they would have kept racing in other classes.

I am referring to the HOBKNOBS whom only want get some "guzzi" track time.

I still believe you should swim with the sharks, or stay out of the water. None of this special needs class BS.
