WANTED! New bike to replace stolen one

Hi all, had my bike stolen just over a week ago now, still waiting on insurance, however I need it to get to work in the city (parking and then getting to my other job isn't possible in the car on on public transport, unless I want to lose 1-3h of working time)

    so...

Need a new bike. Wanting something economical, single or twin cylinder (unless someone knows of a 4 that can do ~22/24km/l or above), 250 to 600cc (have full licence booked in in two weeks time)

Would prefer something 3k or under, and ideally a middle riding position similar to that of the vtr, naked hyo's etc. I've been religiously scanning trademe, closest thing I've found is a gs500 down in chch for 3-4.5k..

Help or anyone who has a bike they're considering selling that fits would be much appreciated!

Thanks gibbo, spada is too expensive, last one was better condition, lower mms and from a dealer (frosty) for less money...as obviously thy get stolen ha.
The goose I've had my eye on..riding position I'd have to check out though, that was my only complaint with the cbr.

The bros - fuel economy wise I've heard it's not good?

And te hyo comet - I've heard of lots of problems from the earlier than 07 models..true? Though very economical and great riding position..

The gpx also looks good..thinking that may tick all my boxes...I'd go for the new ninja250r if it didn't cost so much!

all good bro, I was just bored and I thought I'd have a squizz at whats up in the Auck area.

Regarding the bros economy, i'm sure they have those stats online. (remeber they are called a 'hawk' overseas too)

older gpx's might have more power? again, googling will tell you that. New ninja's might bore you a bit eh.

There is a fella on here (he wrote it up the 250 club section - his 06 hyosung went over 100,000k's). Have a look at what the service history is like and see if anything was replaced that looks odd. From memory the side stand might have been an issue and clutch cables snapping? IF that's correct then they are easily fixed, you would just need to override the side stand electrical thing.

Maybe ask on TM about the hyosung. Don't those bad boys get like 400k's from a tank? that's nuts. sure they have a larger tank but still, mint fuel economy and they sound cool with a aftermarket exhaust on it.
