Late notice I know.

Just found out that ACC and Holden Rider Training are offer a 1 day course on Saturday and Sunday suitable for all levels.

"If you ride a motorbike or scooter then you may be interested in some motorbike training this weekend. When it comes to avoiding a crash on your bike, it can come down to your own skill level and how you respond to a hazardous situation, so it is important that you have the right skills. This training is open to anyone with a minimum of a learners motorbike licence and it doesn't matter what skill level you are or the size of bike you are riding."

When: 11 December or 12 December
Where: Waikato University Car Park
Cost: $30.00 (Lunch is provided)
Registration: 0800 855 7521
What's happens on the day: A qualified motorbike trainer will take you through both classroom and practical sessions. You will be shown the various skills that all motorbike riders need to help keep themselves safe on the road.
For example you will learn:
• How to counter- steer,
• How to ride through corners
• How to look for hazards,
• General bike maintenance
• Where is the best place to position yourself on the road
• How to use your brakes correctly in a stop
• What is the best riding gear for you
• How to ride safety in a group.

You need a minimum 6L.
You need your own bike and riding gear.

So all participants need to have a FULL Class 6 ? this doesnt seem right...

Don't see why a full 6F shouldn't be a requirement. Depends on what level of training they're doing and what skills and how much experience are prerequisites.

I'm guessing so, because a full class 6 isn't called 6F is it? It's just 6. So there's 6L, 6R and 6. So we'll assume he meant 6L, plus what full license driver will want to go to a training on "How to counter-steer" and "General Maintenance". I'm sure after the minimum 6 months on their learners and year on their restricted they know that by now!

Was a good day.

Some very basic stuff which is always good to refresh on.

Along with some classroom time on the basic psyhics of motorcylcing.

One thing I got from the course was the "vanishing point" to pick corners etc. Completely blindingly obvious but I had never thought to use it.

Plus when I arrived early at 8.45 I got a Bacon and Egg sammie, plus lunch!

Worth the $30 right there. Free High Vis for those that wanted it. Also got a helmet cleaning cloth, tyre pressure guage and a couple other bits n pieces.

Next on is in March I hear.

Holy crap, you got all that stuff! I need another tyre pressure gauge (current one goes up to 200 psi

) and always thought I getting a cloth just for the lid.

When I did a training day sponsored by ACC at Hampton, we got some hi-viz. They're actually pretty good quality and good sizing. Just never bothered to put it on yet.

Sounds like it was a good day, and $30 is mere pittance. Stupidly cheap.
