I'd love to know more about how you fit the RG cylinder to the KE bottom end etc

I raced one of Nick Carpenters Scitsus which had a KX125 bottom end and 1 RG500 pot so it must be a fairly easy marriage

It involves a bit of welding so that the case studs have something to actually go into so they mate with the barrel.

The cases have to be welded pretty much all around the base area where the cylinder fits. The stud holes all have to be filled and re drilled. The center of the cases have to be bored to accept the larger cylinder. The intake and disk cover have to be welded and recut to accept a larger carb. The cases have to be decked along with the cylinder to get the required port timing. The head needs to be cut, welded and machined. You will need a water pump of some sort. I don't remember what piston is in it (not RG400, expensive, fragile and now hard to find so I have been told) but I do remember I had to relocate the ring pin.
I firmly believe this combo is still one of the best Bucket motors (best 2 stroke for sure). Mine had very little development, a questionable pipe and still makes 22-25hp (dynojet100) with a very rideable spread. It was very reliable, the clutch gave me trouble once but it was my fault for using old plates. With a bit more development and the NX4 chassis and a decient rider it will be a weapon (if it ever gets finished...) I will post pix if Chris dismantles the motor.
The Steadmans did it first as Dave said. I bought Kens Rat motor which was a KE bottom end with a home watercooled TF cylinder and a car heater core for a radiator.... One of the other brothers had a KV RG version. I rode it, nice power but the rest of the bike was old hat and heavy.
