I believe that if you don't pay, it starts to accrue penalty increases and so if you go back in say..... 8 years time, you get socked with a massive bill.
I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I always was.

Only going to hurt for a short time if you pay! At least then, you can put it behind you and move on.

    Why would ya NOT pay?

For the "thrill" of getting away with it?

    Cos you hate aussie cops?

Do you pay your tickets here in NZ?

From what other people have said it sounds like it ain't just gonna 'fade away in time'...

    Pay it.

Anyway, does anyone know what would happen if we didn't pay. Would something get flagged if we entered the country again, or would it eventually just go away.

Surely it's a bigger loss for them (in taxes etc) if I didn't go back there because of a smallish fine.

Interested to know thoughts/experiences of others.

Simple, put yourself in the shoes of the poor bugger trying to earn a living renting out the car to you. How would you feel if your customers rip you off?

Do you really think it worth ruling out returning to Australia is worth a fine your other half incurred and should rightly pay?

Personal responsibility, pay them what you owe them. You would expect the same in return if you were them.

In WA they just cancel your licence if the fine isn't paid within 28 days and don't reinstate it until the fine is paid - who knows what happens in those foreign Eastern states.......charge you with driving while disqualified, probably!
