    SV1000S fuel problems

My bike's is running mega rich...fuel light used to go on about 180k now 130k and last time 108k.....I did put an airbox power boost about on about a year ago and it was great but George thinks eventually messed things up but even then it was 170k before fuel light came on.....
This am it's not smooth at lowish speeds and at lights tickover drops and sometimes engine cuts
Tickover is all over the shop...blipped black smoke comes out and once a flame...Meremere here I come!!!!
I have George looking at next weekend but any one got any ideas....I know he spent some time on Spankme's bike.
Has Arrows, TRE and DNA Filter with snorkel removed.

I would set TPS and adjust TB.What sort of TRE is it,auto or manual? though ive not heard of many that give problems.

    Yep, shouldn't be like that.

Ok, dump the TRE, even if just temporarily, it's only a couple of plugs. Don't just switch it off, actually remove it from the bike. Put the baffles back into the Arrows. Clean the air filter. Put the snorkel back on so that air can get into the airbox properly.

Once you've done those basics, you need to do some (really) basic maintenance. Check the position of the STVs, and check the STV sensor is aligned correctly. Check the TPS has been set correctly. Sync the throttle bodies (you might need George for that one).

An 05 has two 54mm throttle bodies. If you open them wide, like any big twin, it will chew the gas. Been having a hard time of it lately? A lot of people find their fuel consumption goes down when they're upset.
It's all in the workshop manual, and all very easy. If you get stuck, there are a number of great guides on the portal.

Once you've done that, do a couple of tanks of gas and report back.

Cheers and no I don't give the SV a hard time....this is just to and from work in traffic...and I despite stuff going on I don't hit the bottle either...lol...just keep focused

The snorkel removal and removing baffles and the TRE made no diff to fuel....it was fine until recently so the other things make sense...I will pass this onto George as well as it all helps...may put baffles in as I have these somewhere..

I had exactly the same problems as you. I got mine teka and dyno tuned and it smoothed out all the rough patches in the rev range ( 3.5 - 4 rpm ). I had similiar mods to yours, TRE, 2 bros cans, BMC filter, ditched the snorkel. After I did all those mods, it had more power etc, but ran rougher. So I went and got a TEKA + dyno and now all is well. Apart from the fact that I only get about 160K's per tank.

    Problem Solved

A bit of fiddling and finally a new TPS solved problem of baulking when I opened throttle too quick but luckily I was able to use limp wrist action for good control

Sooooo much better now and thanks to George the Dr.

    You replaced the TPS?

I thought you just need to adjust them and reset, I read a thread a while about it but don't remember the details.

Hopefully wont need to do myself but suspect my friends SVs has TPS issue.

    How much was the TPS?

How much for TEKA and DYNO? thinking of getting mine done on a spare ecu so I can run with baffles on week days.

including a new BMC air filter, it cost me just shy of a fucking grand. Still, it's a one off cost and made the bike feel so much better. It actually scared me when I opened it up in 3rd the 1st time I rode it home after the service. As stated before though, my economy is bad, I get 160 odd k's per tank no matter how I ride it. Only a weekend bike, so I don't really care that she drinks more heavily than I do.

160k per tank a bit excessive.

I get 200-250km before light comes on, dont pull full throttle in 3rd alot as I just end up on 1 wheel. Need more pies only 83kg atm.
