How do I get house paint off my car?

I've got some house paint on the back of my car, on the tailgate and bumper. The bumper appears to be of a fibreglass or similar material. I've tried some turps on a rag which didn't seem to help and I've tried scraping it off but that scratches the bumper. I'm unsure what kind of house paint is on it. Any ideas how to remove it?

Try something like turpentine or fuelite, but be careful cos that may remove the car paint too. Picking at it with your fingernail might get it, but wont be very neat.

80 grit sandpaper on an orbital sander.

If it's a nice colour, why not repaint your car to match ?

Rub it with a little meths on a cloth, if its water based the colour will lift onto the rag and the meths should take it off, if it's enamel or oil based it won't lift onto the rag and you may need to get some paint thinners from your local paint store (test in a hidden spot first)

Bugga ... if it's that bad it probably needs professional attention (i.e. a strip down and repaint ...) and could probably be claimed on insurance ... or the earthquake and damages commission ...

I don't have insurance on it as it's a project car and EQC don't cover cages.

Brush and roller cleaner as used by painters. It is different from turps, fuelite and meths. Usual drill, try on a small area first
