We did the MotoTT trackday on Saturday. Lucky, as the GSXR had a little electrical problem which I eventually traced back to the battery terminal! So I managed one session on the SV and one on the GSXR after spending all day trying to find the cause of said problem!
Sunday morning rolls around and as excpected it's blowing a gale outside!
Quailfing: F1 was first up for us. I really didn't enjoy qualifing on the GSXR. The cross wind down the back straight was, I'd say for me the worst part. Most of it spent lend over try to conter act the wind! That said we quailifed 8th in F1 and 6th in F3.
F1 Race 1: I had a really bad start rounding turn 1 5th I guess with Archie just ahead. I manged to stay with him but had F1 new comer Raj Sarin come past down the back straight. And that's how it stayed till the line. We crossed the line 6th with a best lap of 1:13:447.
F3 race 1: I had a good start slotting in to 5th. I could see Leigh Tidman, Scott Moir and Daniel Kempthorne battling it out ahead of me and I tryed my best to make ground on them but the gap really closed. To add some spice to this racethough, Glenn Williams had had to start from pit lane and I could see him slowly catching me every lap as I exited the hair pin. I really didn't want him to catch me and pushed the ole girl as hard as I dared in the windy coniditions. I crossed the line only bike lengths ahead of him in 5th!
F1 Race 2: The wind had changed direction by this time. It was more of a head wind now going down the back straight. I had a great start going around BJ and out of turn 1 in 3rd I think but Raj got me before turn 2 and then BJ got me back going into splash and then Archie not long after. This left me a great view of the two battling it out. I'd catch them on the brakes and lose them out of the corners. I crossed the line 6th.
F3 Race 2: This race was a copy of the first really. I had a alright start slotting into 6th and thats how it stayed, so I thought. Unfortunatley GW had a off at Higgins so it was another 5th in F3!
No PB's this round and I was 2 seconds off on the GSXR!
Next round is at Taupo and we have a couple of trackdays there before then, so I keen to get some practise in!
Thanks to Nigela and his team for giving up there time to watch us go round and round!
Thanks to Peter & Chris at Acacia Bay R&R, the team at MotoTT trackdays, ExpandaSign, Richie and Scotty of Moto Suspension Research, Gigabyte Solutionz, Chris Mitchell MC's, Dunlop tyres & Qmoto!
