    Finally...

    Heyas...

Well finally the report into our crash has been released to the public..
The coroner has been pretty strong with words, critical and the recommendations are pretty direct to Government.

So, I'm pushing things a little further....raising the debate for vehicular manslaughter offence classification and culpability (within reason).

Recognising that a car is no different than a gun, add an unlicensed, indefinately disqualified recidivist drink driver and the gun's loaded..

Culpability - in our situation, there were people responsible for lending cars, licensing a car so the driver could pootle around, people around him on the day..

So there's a recommendation regarding legislation for culpability in cases like ours.

The coroner has defended the Motorcyclists who were "cleaned out on a beautiful day - minding their own business" and the "driver paid for his life by his own stupidity."

He has recommended that all my work submitted through this process is directed to MOT and suggesting it should be added to the current bill in parliament, alot around Interlocks too which I've been really getting in behind.

None of this will ever benefit mine or our other families, but it will have far reaching benefits not only of this generation but the generations beyond.

So the media are picking this up and getting in behind, time for one last crack of the whip!!

If I don't get the Vehicular manslaughter offence, at least there will be debate!!

So please if you see anything in the media or hear anything please get in behind the debate, cheers

Thankyou, as always for your support!!

Great. Bring it on. Vehicular Manslaughter should be a minimum. Too many repeat drunk drivers are getting away with murder. This must stop. Far too many families and innocent lives are being wasted by these burdens on society. We should shoot them all, after the second offence. Give them a chance to change their lives. If they make no effort. Bang. Save time, money and anguish.

Maybe a harsh sentence, but they wont do it a third time...

Any improvement to the current system, has to be a good one.

I have noticed a slow increase in the number of times the manslaughter charge is being fired at idiot drongos that crash and kill.

I agree with you, we are starting to see it more often! I know the offence classification was discussed under the current bill, so I'd like to see a vehicle recognised as a weapon under the land Transport Act..

That is criminal no doubt in my mind, and I agree 100% with you....to the point where those who knew (IF) he had been drinking that morning...or anyone who lets an obviously alchol impaired driver behind the wheel, could/should be considered accessory...

    Duty of care etc....

There's a few things not specifically noted which I requested, two people who were there that day never fronted up in person EVER, one lent the car on the day, with an expired license according to the crash report, and it took two years to get a statement of denial from her, and when she was summonsed she never bothered to show up!

But I guess that's part of the reason why culpability has been strongly noted.

Just out of interest, who's choice is it what charges are laid against an offender, is it the arresting officer or is there a pc dont be too harsh protocol that you are forced to follow?

It starts with the arresting officer but after bouncing off a few desks it's sometimes anybodys guess what the final charge will be.....
