    1st Triathlon tomorrow

Anyone else heading to the Mount for the Tinman tomorrow? It's my first serious tri (apart from a coouple of sprint-tri warmups in the last few weeks) for ten years - last time I rode my race bike in anger was Taupo Ironman in 2001.....

Hopefully you've experienced a swim start in the warmups.

Tip - resist the temptation to go hard out on the swim (usually happens when you're in the middle of the washing machine). Far better to lose 2 minutes on the swim and come out of the water with energy to burn.

    Enjoy!

    Good luck for yours too.

I'm actually thinking about starting an open water tri swim squad. I have a little experience in swimming....

yeah a little better. around 40th out of the swim, had an OK bike - needed to keep holding back though as my running mileage was not great and i was concerned about how i was going to manage the mount base track at the end of the run. still averaged 34kmh on the bike, but i have previously averaged over 40k - (that was ten years ago though, and i totally paid for it on the run). i just focussed on my own race and finishing it. 12 weeks ago i was 110kg and couldn't run to the end of the street, so i'm pretty happy really. finished around mid-field overall

the event as always was managed really well, and went off without a hitch. i even won a $250 spot prize voucher for some new Rudy Project glasses

Well done that man. I'm toying with the idea of a Tri at some point but I swim like an egg whisk, lots of splashing but very little forward movement.

At least I seem to have found my cycling legs again as of this weekend...Q-rings FTW (or at least FT last-a-fair-bit-longer-before-being-dropped)
