    What a star!

Although if he ever does catch up with the prick that did his car over the evidence of intent to deal with this oxygen waster is available for the world to see.

Was a big writeup in last nights Evening Standard about Steve Elers setting up this website with a picture of him looking out the back (smashed) window.

Quite a solid looking guy that could do some serious damage without a doubt.

He's even put the article on the website.

Must be really pissed to put all this effort in.

    Apology received after publicity

    From Stuff website:

    Website outing forces apology
    16 June 2005
    By ANNA WALLIS

A man who plastered the details of an alleged crime - and the alleged perpetrator - over the internet has received an apology and offer of reparation by email.

Last week, Palmerston North's Steve Elers posted the name and address of a man on a purpose-built website who he said threw a brick through the back window of his car.

The name-and-shame site attracted media attention from around New Zealand and more than 300 emails in support of his stand against crime, said Mr Elers.

It also prompted the man named to email Mr Elers, apologising for what he did.

"Throwing the rock through the window of your car was probably the stupidest thing I have ever done and I am truly sorry."

The man, who is due to appear in the Palmerston North District Court today said he will pay for the damage.

In response to the email, Mr Elers has wiped the man's details from the website. The Manawatu Standard has chosen not to name him.

Mr Elers said he named the rock thrower because he was sick of crime in New Zealand.

"I've had emails from Australia and Singapore and all round New Zealand supporting my stand. There has been so much traffic I've had to pay extra to run the website.

"Usually I only use four gigabytes, but it's double that already."

On the site, Mr Elers said he hoped the man had "learned, as we all do, by our mistakes".

"Hopefully you will be the one who discourages this sort of antisocial behaviour should you come across it in the future."

But Mr Elers said he has not forgiven the man.

    "We are not friends."

He was hesitant about whether he would take the same action again.

"I didn't expect the whole country to hear about it. It's snowballed.

Mr Elers is planning to finish the campaign with the result of the court case posted on the web.
