Moral of story, don't buy privately unless you actually know something about motorbikes. Anyone want to buy a Honda?
Did u get a second opinion from another shop, it may have had oil change but not filter.

Tyres well yeh obvious on photos and tappets at 8,000K ??? sounds a bit premature if you ask me.

Chain yeh I guess if it hasn't been looked after but then wouldn't you want new sprockets too?

sounds to me u got ripped twice

I bought mine off some dude in Levin and never even had a look at the bike. Except some photos.

Granted it's last years model and had only done 2500km. So I assumed it should be right, and I still hounded the dude with about 18 e-mails of my questions

Turned up at my door step with every little bit of what I was expecting. And I assumed it was a bargain with the carbon fibre exhaust, jetting, cowl, and the low km's got it for 6k. He sounded like loads of people were offering so it was pretty impulse of me to because I wanted to make sure I didn't miss out.

My feul gauge also has a problem that around every 250k the needle doesnt move up from empty when i start the bike. It costs me $25 to repair this fault each time. Welcome to kiwibiker, watch out for smart arses they are everywhere.
You're slower than a herd of turtles stampeding through peanut butter. I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness.

I'd suggest that it's not being repaired if you're having to do this every 250km!

Perhaps look at a permanent fix, or just invest that wasted $25 in fuel.

Getting a check is definitely worth the money. Whether you buy from a dealer or privately. This morning there are 5,273 bikes for sale on T Me. Alot will be genuine, and some will be rubbish. ( eg 666 scooters, mostly Chinese)

So often 2nd hand bikes in a dealers showroom will have faults that the dealer may not know about but at least most will see you right if a problem shows up.

The best bike in the world is only as good as its been looked after.

Probably cost more than $25 now petrol has broken the $2 mark!!

Got the bike back from Honda today and wow what a difference. Purrs along, starts first time, easier gear changes and the guys at Energy Honda New Plymouth provided absolutely brilliant customer service. Can't praise Craig from Energy enough.

Thanks for the feedback people and I look forward to seeing you all out on the road real soon. Be safe
