L-Plate Rider
Hi everyone.
My GSX-R250 forks are bent beyond repair, so I am looking for a new/second hand set. Is is the 1989, JG73A, with adjustable suspension. There are a couple of JG72 forks on trademe but apparently they are totally different. Does anyone know of a bike which uses simular forks or have any sitting around?

If it helps, RGV250 VJ21 will be similar. As will similar vintage GSXR400.

Which one? I have had a look around a few of the gixxer forums but it seems no-one knows anything about the 250's.

The model you have will not be recognised by any forums related to GSXRs except the Japanese ones, since that's the only market they were sold in. The problem you have is that your modle shares NOTHING with the local market ones sold here new, despite being a far superior bike.
As I said, VJ21 forks will be close enough to be fitted.

Throw some Pics up of what youve got... I didnt think the gj72 front forks were any different to the gj73 who knows could be wrong though... Ok read a spec sheet saying fully adjustable suspension.... maybe you can still use gsxr forks and just lose the adjustability?

I have some Impulse forks if they are any good to you,
What adustment is on yours? Preload ? Might be able to change the top cap if thats all yours has
What diameter and length, axle size are yours?
Might be able to find some VJ21 forks,
Post up pics and sizes of yours

I thought so to, so brought a set for the GJ72 off trademe. So, the differences are;
38mm diameter on GJ72, 41mm on GJ73
different size axle
on GJ73 axil screws into one fork, then other fork clamps.
RDjase, the measurements of mine are:
total length 765mm approx (not counting preload cap)
lower section 365mm approx
upper shiney section (staunchon?) 586mm approx (when disassembled)
staunchon diameter 41mm
axle clamp diameter 22mm approx
axle thread diameter 15mm approx
Approximately because i dont have any calipers with me, but the 41mm is exact. Im on my cell at the moment, so will try to upload some photos tomorrow.

I did buy that one, just got it home tonight. It actually in a bit worse condition than the photos show. If anyone want any parts (other than the front forks!) let me know.

I had one of those in that exact grey/black colour. Was an awesome bike that took me all over the country. Way better than the single R model and would pull 3 bike lengths over a single R down the front straight of Manfield.
