    Same as Mark Knopfler.

In fact it's damn near impossible to play the last solo in Sultans of Swing if you are using a pick.

Fun solo to play but. Some real big string bends. Nearly as many notes as Dave Gilmour's solo in Another Brick in the Wall Part 2 which is another fun one to play.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

And who could forget the haunting theme tune of Southern Comfort played by Ry Cooder? What a great cult movie. It must be good because my wife hated it.

I thought Knopfler finger picked (ie all his fingers + thumb) whereas Joe Walsh apparently just uses his thumb. Could be wrong...

Good call. By the way it does make for a great telecom ring tone if a ring tone can be described as "great" (Coldplay probably don't think so being outed by the frog song )

    Yep, got the DVD!

Favourite Satch song would have to be... Summer Song at the moment, but I have too many favourites to list!

Yeah he does. Doesn't us a pick but.

I like Eric Johnsons stage presence( or lack of ) on G3 he just kind of stands in the background and makes his guitar sing, may not be as technical as vai or satch but he would be my pick of the bunch for best sounding guitarist.

I know what ya mean, Erics music glides through your ears, while satch and vai's music reverberates and sends mind knumbing tingles up and down your spinal cord.

Django Reinhart and Stéphane Grapelli were jamming buddies from the late '20s on - Django is an unbelievable guitarist even though his fretting hand was badly injured by burns. Definitely worth checking out as he covered swing to bebop but in a European setting. If you like Stéphane, you'll like Django.

It's now Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Yngwie Malmsteen, isn't it???

For guitarist it would be Slash, Dave Gilmour, Jimmy Page, Eddy Van Halen, Ace Frehley, Randy Rhoads. But then again Ace can't play for peanuts now due to 'chemical substances' as Gene Simmons would put it. And Randy Rhoads is dead but still a legend. Listen to Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne for the best.

Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
