    5km/h speed tolerance this Christmas

So it looks like from 4pm on the 24th December until 6am January 5th the speed tolerance will be lowered again. They cite the Queen's Birthday Weekend Success and note that the 8 people that died over Labour Weekend were amongst a lot less crashes in total
At least the AA have said they want Police to focus on drivers who go to slow and don't allow others to pass

Fine for doin 5-9 km over? whats that like $30.

Don't speed if you can't afford it.

I've had 3 speeding tickets over 13 years of speeding and averages out to $60 a year.... thats cheap

That thought occurred to me too.

I relieved to see that the tougher margin comes in at 4.00PM Christmas Eve.
May just try to be at journey's end by then. Still, would like to see SH22 again and maybe try the Hunua Road - without taking a wrong turn this time?

well thats the idea of lowing the tolerance isn't it? if they get anyone it'll be for more than five over instead of 10 like normal...

Wonder if the higher fuel prices will cause fewer motorist to be out and about and make it road toll? What am I saying, the only thing that could make it lower is the tolerance, just like for QB, and err, labour weekend?

It's not the money that bothers me, it's the points.

Idiots.....what's the problem?! Don't you know it will address all the issues that actually cause the accidents?!

I mean surely it will sort out the fact that the drink drive message still isn't getting through.....still.

Surely it will solve the issue of inattention

Surely it will stop people not driving to the conditions

Surely it will stop people driving dangerously

Surely it will solve the issues of poor driver education and training.

Fuck me when will you all get that the speed allowance of 5-10kms over that you are basically trained to drive at because of the usual allowance, when lowered has some magical effect on all of these issues?!

They really do not get the grasp of this tax-collecting business, do they?

Having driven through multiple checkpoints over the last couple of weeks, at NO time was a breath test administered. Surely during this time of the year, if The Beak is going to inconvenience people and cause traffic jams, go the whole hog and do a proper job.
