    So here's a thought.

We have NO road deaths due to speeding.

Yet the road toll stays the same.

    What then?
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Having driven through multiple checkpoints over the last couple of weeks, at NO time was a breath test administered. Surely during this time of the year, if The Beak is going to inconvenience people and cause traffic jams, go the whole hog and do a proper job.
couple of weeks ago on the road I live on they had a seatbelt checkpoint set-up, traffic lined up for about 20 cars or more and they didn't check for alcohol either, warrants/rego and seatbelts. Quite a few got the ticket too!

Insurance is between $1300 and $1500 a year I think, for a 1L Supermoto, insured around $20k. I presume the premium is partly that high due to tickets.

Loss of license specifically, attracted a $400 special excess, if I made any claims. Excess was on insurance for 2 years after incident.

    Never have made any claims.

Ah well, more time looking at the speedo, less time looking at the road.

    It's nice to be safe.

The amount of traffic on the road to Wanganui boxing day will be something to behold. How do you plan to ride that day?
    1) Stay in line in slow stop start traffic?
    2) Trickle up the center passing carefully and keeping under 100clicks?
    3) Race up the center and speed limit be dammed?
    Here for the ride.

Yeah, but if you slowed down, it would be quicker to push...

    Whaaaaaaa?
Keeping the traffic at 80 and pissing off some f'witt who can't pass up the passing lane? Said f'witt pulls out in a blind corner and hits a group of bikes, or dogs, or a hotdog stand, regardless it's going to be interesting.
