That really used to piss me off, I don't blame QV either, I think the lowered valuations are just ignored by the council and they just go off the highest ever valuation that has been given, no matter how old.

The actual QV reports you get done not ignored by council are far more accurate, well for us it was. To say our 2 bedroom unit in Massey was worth 320k was an absolute fucken joke. Our valuation we had done put it at exactly what ended up selling it for, and we never thought we'd get anywhere near what we did (270) absolute luck.
don't they base it off a few houses each side of you?

And since a diesel back up generation unit is coming off line very shortly, expect a dry summer, (low hydro levels, and dodgy wind generation), to help drive prices even further.
    Do I care?
    Nope.

Harden up. Turn off the heated towel rail, and all the fancy must haves, and get real.

the pricing is not standard through NZ as each individual network charges their component differently, depends on the individual meter set up at each ppty and of course each household requirements for electricity.

also this rain we are currently getting will help the lake levels more power generated the wholesale market drops. demand & supply comes into it ..

where the prices will go but its rare for them to drop .. a 300%increase is prob an exaggeration media love to scaremonger

Grins I seem to remember that the mafia before and durring prohibition set the price of booze and made sure they collected the tarrif set, its surley obsurd to pull a value out of your arse and make you pay a pecentage, sounds like organised crime to me, it always has, they dont knee cap you or break your fingers these days, they just charge a penalty that no business can match, now that's progress i suppose. Still getting back to the power, how many billion were the powercos supposed to of overcharged its consumers, so much that the police delcared that it was far to big an issue for their involment, shit, and all we seen since the non investingatin is rises in the rate ????? has everyone else forgoten.

yeah thats the bugger doll, its good when you have your hot water on one meter as you can keep an eye on the consumption, I was just lucky I was home when mine blew so could turn cylinder off & on til it was fixed

To true, its all it takes, start turning off shit you dont need, fight back and become a consumer activist, if no ones buying their shit or a lot less of it they gonna start wising up, and trying to encourage you to use power. The US are moving to prime time power pricing, and I think the tariff changes about 4 times a day, be here soon if you dont wake them up a little, they have created the need to have power by way of convenience electronics, their banking on you not being eble to live with out them making your life easier ???.

The only diesel back-up units on the National Grid are those at Whirinaki. Since our company has the operations and maintenence contract for them and we offer them into the market from our trading room, i am suprised to learn this for the first time on here. Where is the basis for this information?
    Time to ride

yup you will need to ensure your turning your hot water off for part of the day .. bit of a bugger to reheat but that is cheaper than leaving it as it is, so if you have ya soak at nite turn it off when you have the bath & turn it on again next morn or visa versa if you soak in the morn.

wish I could help ya out babe .. dunno any plumber friends though ..
