As you can see the above post proves my point. Lets focus on the "workshop individual who lied" seeing I spent a few hundy at the top too, and got good service.
Start your own shop and do it right then. See how many people complain. I bet there will be more than a few. $35 represents about 25-30mins labour at average charge rates, which probably means they had a look over it, found out they couldn't help you and put it back together.

There are numerous reports of the workshop being very helpful and informative on other occasions, so you haven't proved anything. If you do have photos/vids/emails the post them and back up your story. If you weren't happy with the service then you should have gone back and complained and asked for a refund - pretty simple and well within your rights as a customer.

Thanks for the post, good to see at least someone posting "good" feedback.

I need to do research on importing as I'v heard a few people mentioning its not that hard to get stuff from overseas with good service too. I see the guys put some mean mods on their bikes, so my idea with it is to upgrade parts as it breaks/fails.

The quad ride is cancelled for tomorrow so there is no rush to get the bike going. Took the air filter off and saw some improvement I think once I put the air box back I may just get somewhere.

Tomorrow I need to sneak into Cycletreads and go buy some spares upstairs, hope I done get stabbed on the way down. LOL

    $35 was a bargain

Hey I agree, I'm doing the 20km trip back there and will speak to them face to face. As I said before I dont mind the $35, but tell me (In my face) We looked at it, its a waste of time or whatever you feel, but dont LIE and say YES we did change jets on it. Thats my RANT, and only that. I forgive them for not getting back to me after email email and phone calls etc, I now its hectic time.

Even if they charge me $35 and say we did not have time, I'd go with that. I got the number of a guy close by me from "the one" who helped me. I'm going to try him (some time in future)...need to give the carb another try seeing as I'm all charged up!

I am relaxed, not angry, just disappointed. Thanks for your feedback and some support for Cycletreads.

I'm still waiting on a price for a APE cam chain tensioner that i asked for. It's only been around 6 months. This is one of the reasons why I buy from the states, less fucking around.

I would find a haynes manual and buy a carb kit over the net. Set everything back to stock and work your way from there.

So, he didn't get his ride sorted first time in the w/shop. Tough. There still isn't a magic wand that sorts all faults instantly.
As someone pointed out, the mechanic probably looked quickly at it. Summed up that it had multi faults caused by various tards doing "mechanics" with a bob the builder tool kit, and realised it would take hours to sort out, costing way more than the owner wanted to spend.
Did he wait till he talked to the w/shop manager, or mechanic?
    No.
He got on here and started wailing about lying cheating workshops.

I gotta agree with some shops being less than adequate in both the "Customer" and "Service" departments - but if this dude didn't even try to talk to the manager or the guy who "serviced" his bike and cried media, (good luck with Target, less reputation than a snail winning a speedway) then he rightly gets the insults thrown at him.

    Hi Flippi,

My name is Craig, I am the Manager and "the one" who tried my best to help you (as we do every other motorcyclist we serve in this great industry). We did have a problem with your Yamaha Warrior and are sorry it took a while to get back to you as the tech who spent the best part of an hour on your bike had left on his holiday to go racing on Friday, so I only had second hand info saying that he had changed a jet (this is possible without removeing the carb). If you do not agree then i am sorry, but please take it up with me next time rather than through this media? We also improved the fit on the modified aftermarket pod filter(no airbox) and attempted to get the header pipe/exhaust you had replaced to fit and seal correctly without any luck. Both these will have a large impact on whether it runs well and need to be sorted before any tuning. I advised you that it needs much more work and that it will be time consuming. You didn't seem upset as I did you a deal on the labour and said that you were not too worried as you only paid $1000 and you were more upset about the other shop that charged you $100 to change the spark plug! I guess they have a thread on here too as I am sensing a pattern.....
I am also surprised to see you forgot to mention the fact this atv had previoulsy had a supercharger attached from a Nissan Patrol? Maybe you mean a turbo? Anyway this is probably another reason for the blue smoke, exhaust leaks and suspect running of the engine. I advised it would be best to check compression, strip down the engine to check the piston/rings and valves, and I even suggested a mate of mine who is more local to you that might be able to help, or have time to strip it down.
Please do not call him as I am afraid you will not believe him either.

A big thanks to all our supporters and find it funny that you also thanked others for supporting us.

We are all motorcyclists and want to help other motorcyclists and do a huge service to this awesome industry. Occasionally we make mistakes, but we do not lie, overcharge or make up jobs to charge for. Our $70/hour labour rate is far below average.

    Yours Sincerely
    Craig Stephens

Ps thanks for the free advertising and when you do get it running sweet, come back and see us for a hell deal on some rubber to tame all that power!

having owned my own workshop for years, then spent many others running a maintenance facility on a rental fleet, then a franchise workshop for a japanese brand,i cant help but agree with cycletreads

most customers are fine, with realistic expectations and are happy to pay a fair price for a fair job.

Of course there are exceptions,we get a few mechanics who dont give a damn, and a few customers who expect a full engine rebuild and tune up for $100,and a free pair of gloves, because they "bought the bike cheap"and dont want to spend much on it.

Over the years I have seen and heard it all,and i also know how difficult it can be to bridge the gap between the clients expectations and what is able to be delivered, often with a bike that has been worked on by "mates"with a toolkit consisting of a shifting spanner and a claw hammer.

good on you Cycletreads for fronting on here and explaining your side of the story!

All you have to look at is the fact the OP brought something from Bunnings and expected it to be top end, thats like going to a prostitute and expecting a relationship.

Craig, I've recently had experience at Cycletreads and the guy at the counter was bloody good. When you couldn't supply what I wanted, he discussed and recommended an alternative and had it sorted in less time than he originally "quoted."

My brother, two weeks ago, had tyres fitted there. When you didn't have what he wanted, you guys fitted him with a tyre to get the bike on the road (it's his daily commuter) got the right tyre into stock and replaced the "runner" tyre.

So you guys get a good vote from us and I put this up here to also balance the comments from someone who claims to have had bad service.

As soon as I started reading this thread, my head was going "what the f**k???"

I've dealt with Cycletreads a HEAP of times in the last year since I bought my bike, and they've always been MORE THAN HELPFUL! I would vouch for the guys in the workshop any day, as well as the team upstairs.

To Craig, I reckon your guys deserve a bloody good pat on the back and I hope you all have a great Xmas and New Year. Cheers!

Cycletreads is probably one of the best bike shops in Auckland, great service upstairs and downstairs. They got my bike serviced in less time and way cheaper than I expected. When I went in to get some new gloves shortly after a massive sale (which I didn't know about beforehand) and the glove I liked didn't have its companion, they ordered more in for me and gave me a decent discount on the RRP. I was disappointed that I could not find a helmet there that fit my unusually small head ( I don't think they stock HJC, who make a helmet that fits me well) but the guy I dealt with was extremely helpful with sizing and finding possible options.
Like others have said, take your issues up with the store first before you bad mouth them and take the problem to the media. We all know the media are scaremongering cunts who will do anything for a story to grease their wallets, and defaming honest and reliable people who offer important services is one of their favourite tactics. They know that everyone wants a bargain and likes to hear of other peoples failures.
Don't listen to this fool Cycletreads, most people who have dealt with you have had good experiences and know that this loser is full of shit and wants the world for the price of a bottle cap. Keep up the good work.
