Hero buys Honda’s US$1.9 billion stake

Honda’s 26-year relationship with Indian motorcycle manufacturer Hero has come to and end, selling their stake back to the company for a reported US$1.9 billion.

Hero Group now intends to boost overseas sales – restricted by the agreement with Honda - and develop their own brand models. Honda has already declared their intent to move into the Indian market in their own right.
