    Omaka

Anyone else going to Omaka at Easter to see the Mosquito and FW190?

It's one of the replicas, I think they built about 4 or 5 (they were aiming to build 5)

Not at this stage. Last time I rode up for the day, but it was all a bit of a rush, and I've always wanted to do the gold pass thing at Omaka or Wanaka. The Mosquito and FW190 are enough of a draw card that I'm seriously looking at treating myself to a 3 day gold pass and taking the cage and the good camera gear. A day of looking through the view finder, a day of just enjoying the sights and sounds and a day in lieu for a bit of both.

My favourite, especially at 1.20" where the scene looks like a forward airbase anywhere in Europe circa 1945 (minus the choppers etc)

Cool, you riding up? I'm thinking of making the trip over for that seeing as the South Island warbirds events don't fit in the schedule.
Might see if Pussy wants to come, though I don't know if his bike will make it that far.....

Got the broadband back and thanks guys. Goosepimples and shivers up the spine from the above. I remember watching Tim Wallace fly his Spitfire over Arrowtown just to share the joy of the thing and being mesmerised by the sight and sound. There is something truely eerie in the snarl of the Rolls Royce Merlin engine which is underscored by the sinister whistle. Does that comes from the wing tips?

I always assumed it was the blower. It's not a Roots type one but they'd still whine like a bastard.

I do love my sound system: http://www.rrbew.co.uk/FeaturePics/MerlinSound.wav
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon
