Knee armour for my Draggin jeans.

What do you use under your Draggin jeans? So far I have not been able to find many "road" specific knee/shin armour that I can wear under my jeans. I have been using some mx "Fox" knee/shin guards.
Anybody know of this type of armour specifically made for the road?

If your jeans have "pockets" to stick armour into, quite a few bike shops sell replacement armour/padding.
I don't know personally of anything "strap on" as such.

thanks man. Unfortunately they dont have pockets in the knees for any armour inserts which seems kinda silly. I could probably make some by making an incision and slipping them in between the kevlar lining and the jeans but, I am sure its not advisable. For a start, it probably wouldnt fit snuggly and also might compromise the strength of the kevlar.

Speaking to some guys both with/without the pockets,the view is 50/50 on armour.Mostly whether the insert type stay in place,or use moto x type knee pads which fit and don't move.

I am going to buy a set of 661 Kyle Strait knee guards. they arent knee/shin, but htey are low-ish profile, and cloth covered.

the Pedo 7 quite often have them on spesh.

I was keen on some of the d30 knee guards they do, but reviews I read suggested they are for XC cut scrape protection only and very thin. The KS ones are well reviewed.

I have the knee armor in my Dragin jeans. It is just held in place by the hook half of some long strips of velcro and sticks to the kevlar lining material . It stays in place, I was knocked off last year in town and it stayed in place and worked very well.

I got the armor from Dragin themselves off their web page, it looks to be good quality. Much better than some crap knock off stuff I got locally.

+1, I honestly think Knox probably has the best answer to this question, not the cheapest option but definitely one of the best options.
Knox (and other manufacturers) also make like a padded lycra short that'll offer a reasonable level of hip protection too if you really want to go all the way...

For the effort of wearing slip on knee armour, padded boxers, and kevlar jeans upi may as well be wearing armoured leather or codura pants IMO.

The second one, www.dragginjeans.net , would appear to be the Australasian one
Either way, I'll probably be investigating a set of these in the near future.

I glued 2 patches of 5mm neoprene from an old wetsuit together & used self adhesive velcro on them. Stick straight to the inside of the jeans, knee & hips. I need to put a bit more thought into the shape & perhaps put some slashes into them for a better fit when sitting & to give a little airflow. Never had an impact test but the neoprene is damn sturdy.

Yeah but some people would rather wear jeans on certain days or for what ever reason... If you want to wear say Draggin Jeans and want to amp up the protection further then what others and myself have mentioned are good options.
By the way I really don't believe your average Cordura (nylon) riding pants to have any better, if as abrasive resistant as a pair of Draggin Jeans but that is a whole different subject and has been debated on other threads here on KB before.

I have a pair of Rhino jeans with the hip and knee pads that slip into inbuilt pockets. The hip pads are comfortable and I forget they are there. The knee pads aren't so good. They dont flex or mould to the shape of the knees. Noticable when my legs are bent at the knees. It's like having a piece of 4x1 between the jeans and my kneecap.

I have looked for a good pair of moto x type of knee armour that will strap to my legs under the jeans. I have a pair of rigid armour elbow pads that I wear under my old leather jacket. They stay in place with two velcro straps. They dont move or slip. and are very comfortable. Bought off T me for $5.

The jeans wont ever be as safe as full protective gear but in the summer heat I'm prepared to compromise and accept the risk.

Probably a little OTT but worth a look (depending on how you ride).
Because I am a wobbly old bugger and need all the protection I can get I am having a serious look at these. Bulky, but still probably cooler than leathers in the summer.
