Had it happen to me on SH1 coming down the Hatepe hill just as you get to the 70kmph zone in Waitetoko (which is just before Taupo) - 3 harleys blasted by me, one on the inside. I was doing the speed limit (70) and they were doing at least 100 when they came past me.

Fuckers were probably just jealous that I could corner better than them.

That or they just got sick of you holding em up,either way not something i would tell the world.Have to admit ive done it,twice from memory in 38 or so years riding, not something (obviously) i would make a habit of but both times probably a safer option than staying where i was.

Sometimes, it could be a safer option, and we've all done things on the road we regret :P

Don't see what I was doing that was unsafe and warranted such a maneuver though, I was doing 70 in a 70 zone, plus I often see cops in that area and know not to speed through there (my wallet certainly did $170 later!!)

I got the idea that it was kind of a show off thing on their part to be honest, which would make it kind of lame, but I could be wrong.

Been done to me, scared the poo out of me, so I repaid the event by undertaking his bike which was parked, with my HJ45 with big bullbar, guess what its not possible, but in this instance it was not possible to hurt anyone, which I pointed out to him.

Sounds like these guys had spent too much time watching far superior riders than them and got it into their head that they could emulate their abilities by showing how boss they are on the road.

In the future get the plate, stop, call *555 and lay a complaint, said idiot will end up in court and lose his license, as a friend of mine found out recently to his dismay. Then he'll have to sell his bike cause he can't ride it, and you'll scoop it up cheap on trademe cause you'll have passed your full license. Happy endings

There are three reasons I won't...

    1) He's to old.

    2) He's too ugly.

    3) He's the wrong sex.

bloody good idea, it also stops cars pushing their way past you and running you off the road, used to ride a 350 matchless, it was for a couple of months my sole means of transport, and I had to do this otherwise I was literally run off the road

also if you travel about 5mph faster than the prevailing traffic you tend to have less hassle with people trying to get past

as for the tosser passing on the inside, dont even give him a second thought he will reap his just deserves in due course

however learn from the experience and keep an eye on both mirrors all the time whats behind you is almost as important as whats in front of you

People used to do this to me when I was driving my truck. I had a pair of stickers made with "passing side" on the right rear and "suicide" on the left rear. Will try and find some photos.
Used to give you one hell of a fright when you swing wide for a corner (indicating of course) and then find a cage or bike breezing up the inside.
If you are what you eat, then I'm fast, cheap and easy
I have a gas axe and a welder! What do you mean "it won't fit"?

I did this when learning to another rider. I apologised when we stopped. Never done it again.

    Mainfreight?

Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that, who cares? ...He's a mile away and you've got his shoes
