    Best drummers

After reading the guitar solo thread I felt left out and unnoticed so I decided to start a drummers one.

Louis Belson - Independent (Famous for starting 2 bass drums with one kit)
    Buddy Rich - Independent
    Ron Wilson - The Surfaris
    Keith Moon - The Who
    Danny Carrey - Tool
    Joey Jordison - Slipknot
    Lars Ulrich - Metallica
    John Bonham - Led Zeppelin
    Travis Barker - Blink 182
Alex Van Halen - Van Halen
    Bill Ward - Black Sabbath
Phil Collins - Genesis, Phil Collins Big Band
    Nick Mason - Pink Floyd

    Anymore ideas???

To your dissapointment I have to say that he is not that great a drummer. I'm picking you aren't a drummer but listen to Nirvana's songs and most of them are the same beat and fills. His solo's are okay but his drumming ability in Nirvana was absolute crap.

I will give him credit for that work as it is much improved of his Nirvana days. He is also with Tenacious D, Probot and produces some underground heavy rock bands albums in The States. Have you seen his version of 'Stairway To Heaven' originally by 'Led Zeppelin'???

Hmmmm - I loathe the term "best" when talking about Musicians. For instance the chick in The White Stripes is perfect for The White Stripes. No one else could contrive that barely competent, don't give a f__k style and pull it off.

Drummers you (and others) should check out who would blow your mind would be (IMO)

    Zigaboo Modeliste
    Steve Smith
    Bill Bruford
    Thomas Lang
    Carter Beauford
    Matt Chamberlain
    Jay Lane
    Brain
    Josh Freese
Billy Ward (not the Black Sabbath dude, but he's good too)
    Tim Alexander
    Raymond Herrera
    Virgil Donati

I could go on an on......

    You should stop me.

    Right then cheeky monkey -

Your mission is to learn The Black Page by Frank Zappa.

I want the Bozzio version too, not the latin inflected Chad Wackerman version.

ooo yeah - punk drummer Brooks Wackerman, Suicidal Tendencies, Chad's little brother.

Hmmm- Ray Herrera, Brooks Wackerman - good stuff.

But why do you constantly rate Josh Freese and dis Danny Carey?
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

what about Brian Downey ex Thin Lizzy
    Jeff Pocaro
I also thought Peter Criss was an OK basher of the skins ...
I have more but that will do for now ..
A man can move much faster without a millstone around his neck, so if he gets the chance to lose her he'd better drop her and run like heck !! .. (10cc "Modern Man Blues" - Deceptive Bends)
