Sure have. On Stage lives in my car CD. Powell was a powerhouse drummer and I think he was the worlds fastest at one point. Plus he was into bikes in a big way.

Do you rate Barlow over Bunker? Maybe Clive Bunker is more rock. I have 'Live at Carnegie Hall' and he plays really well there. Anderson must have been a lucky guy having all that talent around him.

Never said it was, but those three are amongst the most amazing and technically gifted drummers on the planet IMHO.

Check out the drum fill in "Ruin" by Lamb Of God if you need.

And no, i'm not a Bogan.

someone I always thought was cool as fuck was the chick playing drums in the Lenny Kravitz video of his cover of "American Woman".

Not technically that great perhaps, but it really worked for the song.

I agree. While Dire Straits were a good band, he was a very average drummer.

I was pleased to see Hal Blaine listed in this thread. He is a great session man, who can play just about any style.
Keep the shiny side upright, Rhino.

The drum track was recorded by Lenny. Mr Kravitz lays down most of the instruments on his recordings. Technique is overrated, especially where it ruins a perfectly good song.

The "chick" is Cindy Blackman and technically she'd kick the arse of a lot of the lunk heads people have called good drummers in this thread. She was building a rep as a Jazz Drummer before Lenny picked her for his band.

Reminds me of a combination of Jack de Johnette and Tony Williams.

What does velocity have to do with drumming? You should listen to the entire Muse catalogue instead of the last droning failure of an album. There's definitely velocity if you know what you're listening for.

when i said not particullarly fast i meant compared to joey jordison
and speed and skill are unrelated, but thats how some people measure how "best" a drummer is.
and by what to look for you mean, which track?
and by entire catalogue you mean showbiz, origin of symmetry, hullabaloo, and absolution, i am and do
and i agree bhar wasnt their best attempt, but it was better than most of the rubbish that gets released these days

I've been listening to the Masters of Reality's Sunrise on the Sufferbus album again recently...Ginger Baker on waay better form than that insipid Cream re-hash. If'n you like good drumming and you haven't heard it, you really should.

If you're searching for tracks, "Tilt-a-Whirl" and "She Got Me" seem to be the easiest to find but "T.U.S.A" is a very amusing Ginger Baker penned and vocalised (wouldn't say sung!) whinge about 'merkins ability to make decent tea and the source of my sig quote...
