The other two I'd be lucky to get half my allotted rounds on target. I started at 5m, 7m, 12m, and then 18m. I'm terrible with weapons, but handguns are great for shooting people at point blank range and not much else. If you aren't well trained and trying to shoot someone running toward you, a baseball bat or a rock is a much better option.

I rest much easier now knowing why all 8 billion rounds that have been fired at Arnie, Bruce Willis and Mel Gibson have all missed.

You can never tell. Some people drop like a sack of shit while others will just glare back at you and get even angrier. I've only ever come across a few people that it has had no effect at all on though. You can't really tell if it just hasn't worked on them or if they are just so whacked out or highly motivated that they can tolerate the pain.

Ask Aunty Helen ( AKA Dr Stupid )

Now I dont care whos running the show over there

, It seems to me that if a blind lemon got it , the powers that actually run the show would have their way ...I mean labour ..For the working man ,,and user pays..... a new right policy ..dont seem right ,,,( Paying for education the very thing that will help the Stupids...that policy came from Retards,,,,,Allan Gibbs are u listening )
anyhow , see the tough stance ( the other threads on the new driving rules ) ..Well This violent culture NEEDS to change. Period
    How
From you and me. Socially exclude ( dont tolerate any reference to ) Violence from your social circle ie the ones closest to you ..you can do it jokingly, No one can change the world , but we can influence the people around us.
See how the attitude to drinking and driving has changed ,,, ( Teenaged pregnancy in holland is one of the lowest , in one of the most liberated countrys why , cos its not socially tolerated.)
Now NZ has Rgby rcing n beer, AND a large underclass of disinfranched (sP) THAT was caused by successive governments( and the ravings of Gibbs and co..Mr Kerr and the other back door boys ( yes they help each other ),( oh no not another bleeding heart ,,no !) But, if you grow in an enviroment that has role models such as Jake the Mus and Johna lomu ( why is he a good rugby player is it the deft little side step , or the way he powers through the back line ) and you see what other have and you want and you lack the social skills ,,,well its a recipee for disaster ( see the phillips curve its linked alright )
Well if those are you role models And you parents dont know any better..... the chance of you swanning around polite society are slim ... UNLESS you get shown a better way ,,,
Now working at Tegal chicken isnt going to get you a Mercedes benz , BUT selling drugs will ...Getting complicated isnt it ..,,
So how are we going to change this ...
First influence you immeadiate social circle , by not tolerating this violent crap
Second, Go ( as in GO ) to your local MP and say do something or I wont vote for you ( letters to Parliment are free)
Third as was said be proactive ( on the other thread The police in scotland were taking bike thieves to the track and letting them race and learn ie giving them a chance , otherwise they just went out again stole a bike and carried on as before ..( I would like to see the out come of that one ,,,I would be behind that..ie offer my assistance if it happened in NZ )

Finally. as I said in another thread .... 1st offence 2 choices , learn or dont learn . Second offence ...Hit em F$$%&%&''( hard, not with a fine , but hard Labour ,,,Basic training Army.. ( supported as some borstals caused more probs than they solved )
    Third
Hell has no fury see this man
( a tent in the desert and nought else .... )
So strike one you have the chance to learn , Strike two YOUR In deep deep doo doo
    Strike three YOUR %&'()) ed
all the while social peer pressure is saying its not cool to behave this way

Wont change over night, but Im sure it would ...

I live in a society that the most violent thing I see around my nieghbor hood is a young lad on a scooter revving the tits of it at three in the morning ..( we also have yakusa but they stay umonst themselves and are busy making BIG money so its not a daily worry ...( they actually provide Very good service at the community fireworks display each year )

Gosh Ive rambled ..but I HATE the Violent culture ( Read CHCH on a friday /Sat nite ..and My child wont be subjected to it ..IF I can help it.....

and YES I have done something about it( Paid for my own airfare to go to the behive to lobby ministers ( had a free lunch at belamies!! well not quite free at the airfare cost me !!) ,,and will continue ...

Today i spoke at length to Westfield shopping center management telling them of the situation and the fact that while serving the needs of the market they also serve the thirst for young trouble makers (DOGS) I gave them some options such as increasing security or closing the doors on thursday night (yeah right) but its amazing what a few signatures from local residents will do eh ? that got his attention, he will be discussing the issue with the police and the council and will come back to me next week.

I have also spoken to the police, they are sending the community constable to our house to talk to the young fella because he is now to scared to walk home from school. (top marks to the cops)
I will be talking to the cops who attended later on today when they come on to duty to find out if I can assist or if I can learn of some results.

Just an update for those interested.

All in All a bloody bad thing and Im still absolutely pissed off that these arsholes have affected my family.

I agree with much of what you said in your post Stephen...

But really, I don't think Jake the Muss was ever intended to be or was actually portrayed as a role mode.

As for Jonah Lomu, he may be physical within the rules of the game on the field, but he's supposedly one of the nicest, most caring guys around. He does A LOT of community work, and on the field he hardly ever got fired up, never threw a punch and always played hard (ok he didn't always play hard, but he had a disease so I can forgive him for that) but fairly. Whether or not you meant it seriously, I think it's a bit unfair to drop his name in, in the context it appears.

That doesn't make pistols sniper tools. As our 2 steemed officers have mentioned, it's actually quite difficult, even in the confines of a pistol range with all the time you need and nobody threating you or shooting back. If I recall correctly, the old man said they had to hit a man sized target at 10m (or was it 15m) 4/7 times with their pistol in the HK police.
Try shooting someone who's moving erratically atfer sprinting after them for 2 minutes while pumped on adrenaline. Not easy.
Same holds true even with rifles. While I'm no sharp shooter, I can pop off pine cones at 100m without any trouble - that's lying down, and pine cones don't shoot back. My flatmate's army training was shooting half the distance, but from three different positions (prone, kneeling and standing) _after_ running around with packs on. It's actually quite difficult from a standing position, and once again, carboard targets don't shoot back.

Yeah, that truly sucks Quasi. Really sorry to hear that the young fella has been so (understandably) affected by it. I can't imagine how the copper's words are going to give him back his confidence, but he's got some special skills if he can, and good on him for doing what he can with the situation as it now stands.

If there's anyone who's "hiding" it's you Whinger! Hiding from the reality that one day you'll meet your Maker and be found guilty and most ashamed for living such a rebellious life!

You are a lost soul so it's no use me telling you to GET LOST cos you already are!

The lot of you are lucky that you've grown up and don't have to go to school with some of these losers. Their attitude pisses me off as well. They think they're so cool wearing their hoodies, smoking and saying how much ass* they've pounded, and the problem is everyone else thinks they're cool too. The media isn't helping matters with Rap 'artists' being portayed as cool instead of the criminals they are. Nor the fact that most of the girls our age are in the bad boy phase, which just reinforces some of these 'gangstas' to keep on being dickheads cause they get all this attention.

I'm a fucking biker! You can't get much cooler than that, but since I don't say 'chea', 'bro' or any of that shit, I'm their target of abuse. I almost got into a knife fight in metalwork last year but I managed to get away from it by giving up. Sure, I was a 'pussy' for doing so, but at least I didn't get stabbed and killed or convicted of murdering the other guy.

And as much as I would love going around with a baseball bat as well and go 'hit 'em up', it is just sinking to their level and it isn't worth it.

Although I win in the end. I get to slowly watch them become poorer, have their minds destroyed by the drugs, and the girls get out of the bad boy phase and turn away from them. Ah, sweet irony.

thursday night in our family means a walk up the road to Chartwell Square for a spot of shopping and a meal of takeaways, we enjoy this, why do we go out aprehensive about our safety ? New Zealands a safe country isnt it ? A safe country my arse!
We go to the shops and there are kids everywhere smoking swearing, skidding in their cars being generally a bunch fuckwits while families try and hold together a focus of fun for their kids, why the fuck is it this way ?

Tonight we went to drop of some movies walked past BK to find a car parked up on the footpath, directly infront of us (nowhere for us to go) kids all around us, these DOGS pulled a young guy out of a car and took turns bashing the living shit out of him, right infront of my wife and kid !! there would have been about 20-30 kids of ages between 10 and 18 what the fuck ! we had to witness this while this pack of DOGS went to work on this kid.
I did not know what the hell to do , I yelled out "the cops are on the way" , and just watched until they dispearsed a bit then I went up to the kid in the car with the security lady to back her up a bit.
(what was I supposed to do give them more meat)
So whats with this ? what the hell is going on ? this kid had blood all over his face blood along the side of the car and the Gang of DOGS thought it was awesome, the best thing ever !

Ive personally had a gutsful of the mentality of this country when it comes to violence not to mention booze.

Tonight I blame the complete lack of BALLS from the police to patrol this area on late night shopping and move groups of these DOGS along, I have never seen a cop walking the beat around here ever, tomorrow I will be making an offical complaint ( if I can)to get this shit soughted out (yeah right).

I am fortunate enough to have travelled to a number of countries around the world, but NZ is one of the worst places for a developed nation when it comes to public behaviours especially on Friday and Sat nights down Queen St. No wonder there is a alcohol ban around the CBD.

If you were a tourist here for a holiday, what would your first impression be? Certainly NOT a friendly nation the advertising portraits. On a Friday and Sat night down Queen St is met by low lifes pissed as a fart hooning around abusing racial and sexual slants at everyone and anyone.
