Wow you guys really know how to get off topic I thought in summer time you would have better things to do than talk a load of crap. Seems to be the way a lot of these threads are going

I was a fan of Baker street after my sister introduced me to Gerry Rafferty's music 30 years ago.

Actually...I used to work with a guy that looked like Jesus. He's cut his hair now and rides with some geezer that does mag tests.

Take a chill pill mate. Some of the best conversations wander all over the place. I wouldn't be in this thread if it wasn't for that the fact that I liked Gerry's music...but that's no reason to not have a lil bit of banter to lighten things up.

    Turn that frown upside down.

I like the story that the main solo on Baker Street was written for lead guitar but the guitarist didn't show up or was double booked. A sax player present in the studio layed down that solo with the instrument he had in the back seat of his car.

That solo made the song I reckon.

    RIP Gerry

Baker Street origins taken from Wiki but interesting nonetheless...
"Rafferty wrote the song during a period when he was trying to extricate himself from his Stealers Wheel contracts, and was regularly travelling between his family home near Glasgow and London, where he often stayed at a friend's flat in Baker Street. The resolution of his legal and financial frustrations accounted for the exhilaration of the song's last verse: "When you wake up it's a new morning/ The sun is shining, it's a new morning/ You're going, you're going home."

"...you meet the weirdest people riding a Guzzi !!..."
