Sad? Don't stop ever! For anything!

Did a search can't see this has been posted so here goes?

Was browsing for a new MX helmet when I came across this! Got this off the Bayride M/C site in Tuaranga here (Copy and pasted hereunder)

Bloody hell there goes the last bit off common decency out the window!!
Don't stop for nothin even baby's or egg on the screen!!
Mind you who would leave their baby by the side of the road? Although that bait could be swapped for anything to tempt a unsuspecting female?

Be careful out there! According to the article its actually happened! Far out!

    Police Warning

    Date: 21st December 2010

This has happened on Barrett Road in New Plymouth TO CLOSE TO HOME!!!

    Worth Passing On!
    This is happening now!

Sad, especially if you are inclined to 'help' people....

While driving on a rural end of the roadway on Thursday
morning, I saw an infant car seat on the side of the
road with a blanket draped over it. For whatever
reason, I did not stop, even though I had all kinds of
thoughts running through my head. But when I got to my
destination, I called the Police and they were going
to check it out. But, this is what the Police advised
even before they went out there to check....

"There are several things to be aware of ..... gangs and
thieves are now plotting different ways to get a person
(mostly women)to stop their vehicle and get out of the
    car.

"There is a gang initiation reported by the local
Police where gangs are placing a car seat by the
    road...with a fake baby in
it...waiting for a woman, of course, to stop and check
    on the abandoned baby.

"Note that the location of this car seat is usually
beside a wooded or grassy (field) area and the person
-- woman -- will be dragged into the woods, beaten and
raped, and usually left for dead. If it's a man,
they're usually beaten and robbed and maybe left for
    dead, too.

DO NOT STOP FOR ANY REASON!!!

    DIAL 1 1 1
AND REPORT WHAT YOU SAW, BUT DON'T EVEN SLOW DOWN.

"IF YOU ARE DRIVING AT NIGHT AND EGGS ARE THROWN AT
YOUR WINDSCREEN, DO NOT STOP TO CHECK THE CAR, DO NOT
OPERATE THE WIPER AND DO NOT SPRAY ANY WATER BECAUSE
    EGGS MIXED
WITH WATER BECOME MILKY AND BLOCK YOUR VISION UP TO
92.5%, AND YOU ARE THEN FORCED TO STOP BESIDE THE
ROAD AND BECOME A VICTIM OF THESE CRIMINALS.

THIS IS A NEW TECHNIQUE USED BY GANGS, SO PLEASE
    INFORM YOUR FRIENDS AND RELATIVES...

THESE ARE DESPERATE TIMES AND THESE ARE UNSAVOURY
INDIVIDUALS WHO WILL TAKE DESPERATE MEASURES TO GET
    WHAT THEY WANT."

Please talk to your loved ones about this. This is a
new tactic used. Please be safe.

Get started NOW -- SEND THIS MESSAGE TO ALL YOUR
FRIENDS AND LOVED ONES TO BE CAREFUL AND AWARE OF
EVERYTHING AROUND THEM SO AS NOT TO BECOME A VICTIM.

Sounds like another urban myth. Nearly identical.

Well that's jsut bloody wrong...as to the egg throwing...I'm guilty. Was one of my after dark pastimes in my younger days (about 10), eggs and rotten tomatoes thrown from the orchard to unsuspecting passing motorists. Had no idea how dangerous that was, for me at 10, it was a laugh. Now, as an adult, I see how much of a thoughtless stupid individual I was....I'm glad I've grown up.

Lucky the elderly couple I stopped for yesterday didn't turn out to be in a gang huh? They were sorted, someone was coming, but couldn't leave an old Buick sitting on the side of the road without checking.

Yeh but aren't they overseas articles this one claims it's a genuine NZ police warning, posted by a NZ company and has happened in New Plymouth?

Bayride obviously think it serious enough to put on there main page?

Police don't send official warnings via Chain/Spam mail. There'd be a press conference.

Isn't that the whole point of an Urban Legend? Familiar enough to be believable. I cannot find anything on the police website regarding this and they put a LOT of crap on their site. Searches for Barrett, Egg, etc. return nothing related to this.

If you really believe it's true, why not call the police and ask them?

Well it looks like its doubtful if they put a lot of crap on their site!
Perhaps someone close to them can ask whoever put it up where they got the info about the Barrett Road incident and if its genuine??
Its NZ specific and if its not valid its in poor taste!

A guy at school had this happen to his car during the last day of 7th form, it ended up "setting" inside the car doors and all the gaps, car stunk for weeks and ruined the paint wherever it set.

Seemed funny at the time, his dad didn't think so though

As if the batter would last long enough to get home.

I was just at the Butchers.
He said 'I bet you $200 you can't reach that meat on the top shelf.
I said' no way - the steaks are too high.'
