Can hold a conversation in half a dozen languages, but not sure I can say anything really intelligent in any of them...

The only reason I only ride in the Iron man Class is I have no friends left to enter the two man events,
    my own fault really.

My mum's from croatia, so she speaks croatian and english. Dad's parents are from holland, even though dad was born here, he can speak some dutch.

My sister learned german pretty well in school.

I was supposed to learn japanese, but the classes in school kinda turned into a bit of a joke and most people didn't take it seriously.

I've kinda tried to learn a bit of croatian, but haven't stuck with it long enough.

    So I just speak english.

If you're wanting to learn a foreign language, check to see if your local library has the any Pimsleur tapes/cds for it. Or you might have luck searching for pimsleur mp3's on DC++ or other peer to peer networks. They seem like a good way to learn how to speak a new language.

I speak English. In South Africa I was forced to learn Afrikaans and Xhosa as well, but I have neatly forgotten them. Also learnt a couple of different sign languages as well.

Came to NZ, learnt Japanese and Chinese, and have obviously picked up a few Maori words. Done some programming courses, so know a bit of Java, .Net etc.

Always seem to pick up a bit of a language, know it for a while, then forget. I have found that if you don't use a language, you tend to forget it, so now I am back to English and a bit of programming. Not too fussed...

Xhosa? That's a new one for me. (Dumb question alert) I take it that it's an African language?

yep, when I left at the end of 96, 11 languages on the box. Couldn't even schedule one day of english TV. Now that's PC.

The other one that people had to learn - usually instead of Xhosa - was Zulu, I think.
