    The cat's nose

at first i thought she'd been getting into fights, yesterday i actually saw her grinding it up against a tree trunk... she's doing it to herself!

i'm guessing there's nothing i can do about it, but if you have any suggestions...

Could be that it was originally scratched in a fight and that she is rubbing it against a tree because it itches?

I would suggest just watching her and as long as it is healing no problem. If it does not appear to be healing there could be some infection which might also account for the rubbing and she might need antibiotics to clear it up.

I would suspect that she had a bee sting or perhaps a bit of rye grass in her nose, and although all external sing of it has gone, there may be a fragment still in there. She is trtying t get it out, just as you would if you had a splinter or similar under your skin.

It may be a vet job to tranqulise and investigate.

Yes, go to a vet....if there's something in there it could well abscess...
Unlikely to be a skin problem in that area although it is possible.
Out of curiosity, what's the tree ? Could be something which has an attractive bark odour similar to catnip.

Take her to the vet, she probably has something up her nose that is irritating her, she is trying to get it out.

Our cat started sneezing pathetically a while ago, sneeze, after sneeze, after sneeze. You had to laugh at her it sounded so funny. However after a couple of days of laughing at the poor cat I took her to the vet, turns out she had a bit of grass caught at the back of her nose, hence the sneezing. Believe it or not the treatment was antibiotics to make sure her nose did not get infected and then wait for the grass to decompose

    take her to your vet

How old is your cat? If she is over about 7 or 8 then there is every chance that this is skin cancer which is why it isn't healing. Much easier for a vet to deal with if it is small than when it gets big

My two year old boy (not cat) found that it was quite a nice feeling rubbing his nose against the mesh while running around on a trampoline. It was so good he even did it anti clockwise. Later that night it was clear he had rubbed the skin off both sides of his nose, which scabbed up nicely and looked great on all the xmas photos.

If you have a trampoline, keep the cat off it, just in case.
