    Defensive driving or riding courses?

Im posting on behalf of a mate...

Just wanting to know where around the Auckland region you can do the defensive driving course thing for bikes to reduce the restricted period?
Can you do the car one or is it a specialized one that requires you to undertake a bike course thing or...?

    Thanks for any help!

Anyone got any clues that if you have already done it for your car license do you have to do it again to get the reduction in time?

Why not just do the required time and spend that time learning the life saving skills you need to survive as a motorcyclist? Why the hurry?

That would be a total of 30months in the licensing system before I have my full?! Don't be crazy, I'm not going to spend 2 and a half years on my little 250.

Got off the phone with NZTA, and you have to sit the exact same course again because you have to sit the course "6 months" after obtaining your restricted.

    Utterly ridiculous bureaucracy!

+1 the defensive driving course is a load of shit anyway. It teaches you NOTHING other than reinforcing (un)common sense. I for one am not going to waste my money sitting that again, will just plod along on my 250 for an extra 6months and use that time to save up for a nice brand spankers bike

Because some of us have been rideing since we could stand and have grown up on around inside bikes.
but fully agree for the muppet who decides to get on a bike with no prior experience, thats why being over 24 is a stupid rule, some mid life crisis dude out for a thrill is going to b dangerous
