Sprocket carriers - RGV250?

Hi,

I have a 1989 RGV rolling chassis that I'm looking at using for a bucket.
I know I should be looking for a 17" wheel, but the 18" one on it seems OK to me.
I'm not at the pointy end of the field and am enjoying pottering around with this for fun. If I can get it going for the least amount of $$ the better.

The issue I have is that the bolt pattern on the sprocket carrier on the RGV is to big to carry a sprocket that would be suitable for either the RX125 motor I have, or a new Loncin that would be plan b. when $$ allow.

Does anyone have a suggestion on a possible donor bike for a sprocket carrier swap?
I run the RX at Ruapuna so it is geared higher than you would for a kart track. It's running a 15 front and 38 rear on a 428 chain. From looking at the JT Sprokets web site the RGV must have one of the biggest diameter sprocket bolts around, 156mm.

Change the front to a 520 chain pitch and leave the back 520 spocket on

Or buy a blank rear sprocket of the correct pitch to suit your front sprocket and get it machined to suit the sprocket carrier.

This what I'd do.

Know anyone friendly machinists ?

This is not an option for the RX motor as is, the 428 pitch sprocket is approx 160mm across, RGV sprocket carrier bolts are 156mm across the centre of the bolt.

This might be the best option. But I'm a bit worried a 520 chain and a front srocket big enough to keep the gearing the same might not have enough clearance at the front. Or the RX not have enought grunt to run it.

What size chain and sprockets do you run on your Loncin?
I may be better to wait till I can do plan b. It looks like theres plenty of room around a Loncin front sprocket on the pictures I've seen.

It'll be a darn sight heavier when I sit on it.
But that's OK, it's just a bit of fun. I'm not out to break any records or anything.
