    Air Hawk seats?

    Hello
    Not sure where to ask this but...does anyone have an Air Hawk seat?
    I am thinking about getting one but would like some honest opinions before I hand over my hard earned pennies.
    Any comments would be gratefully appreciated please.

    Yep, they are outstanding. The trick is just one breath of air into them to lift the 2 prominent bones of your pelvis just clear of the stock seat. Over-inflating makes them uncomfortable. My mates were standing on their footpegs at the 1000 km mark to keep their circulation going. I had no trouble at all which speaks for itself. Imported mine from the USA for a huge amount less than they cost over here.

    Did you get stung with any extra charges (gst, customs charges etc)by importing it from the US?

    not a piss take here, but looking at the construction and BB comment that you only partially inflate them - couldn't you get pretty much the same result with some "large bubble" bubble wrap?

    Nope, US$131 including postage, no other costs.

    Bubble wrap doesn't have interconnecting chambers like the Airhawk so you don't get any air movement between cells with bubble wrap to even out the load. Good thought, but no cigar

    Had an air hawke on my ladies seat for 2 years and she would not ride with out one. Takes the jolt out of large bumps. I just order mine on the internet from the guy in aussie he rang to confirm that it was in the post / courier that afternoon and it arrived 2 days later. Great product Great service

    Had my Blackbird done at McDonalds about 6 years ago and it was flawless. At that time, it cost about $500 for a full re-foam. The Airhawk is just as good and costs a lot less, although rather less attractive. People need to decide what represents value for money, just like riding gear or anything else. Fitness for purpose and all that.

    Was quoted $500 plus gst-$575 ish,but for me it's the cost of staying with a mate while seat is done,be $500 of beer lol.Obviously cheaper to do pillion only on bandit as 2 piece seat.

    Have gone to Para rubber and got packing foam which is firmer than elephant foam etc,glued to sheepskin and is way better,but is 50mm thick,mind you the rear seat on bandit tapers and this is where numb bum hits,had a local upholsterer replace original foam with foam to soften,better but not ideal,am playing with various foam offcuts to get it right.

    I bought airhawks while touring in Oz on my Ktm990 and yes they are an improvement. However, they do raise the seat height a bit and if you are at the 'end of ur reach' like I am on the 990, then they add an uneasy feeling while stopped. They don't look 'cool', are a sponge in wet weather, something else for pedestrians to nick or you to carry when leaving ur bike for a while.
    They are not a replacement for a well constructed seat in my opinion.
    Get a Corbin, if they make a seat for your bike, youll never regret it.
    I'm no gynaecologist, however I would be happy to take a look......................

    Corbin do make a good seat. However, whether they're any better than an Airhawk or a McDonalds custom seat is completely open to argument. Corbin make for the mass market whereas McDonald will build them to individual requirements in terms of shape, height or any other features you want. The Corbin is arguably more expensive too.

    I know what you mean about being at full stretch as I suffer from short legs. However, if you put more than one breath in an Airhawk, then it's over-inflated. All you need is sufficient air to take the load off the Ischial bones of your pelvis (the bony bits which locally compress the seat foam and make it uncomfortable)
